In an interview with Interview Magazine, Brown reveals that it was, in fact, her first kiss, but that was “only acting.”

“Yeah, I did have to kiss Finn. At the end of the day, it’s only acting, and it’s something you have to do, and I would do anything for the show. I cut my hair, I kissed Finn. It was definitely strange. It was, like, my first kiss, so it was kind of weird. But then, like, when I’d done it, I thought, “Wow. It makes sense for the storyline.”

Millie Bobby Brown’s revelation about her first kiss with Wolfhard came during a lie detector test for Vanity Fair. In the interview, Brown is hooked up to a polygraph machine and asked a series of questions by a technician. The actress responded without hesitation when asked if Finn Wolfhard was a good kisser, admitting he was not.

On an episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, Wolfhard addressed Brown’s criticisms and stated that he, too, was bewildered throughout the incident. Wolfhard’s first on-screen kiss was with his co-star, but he was completely unprepared for it.

“My first on-screen kiss was with Millie, but I didn’t know how to approach that in any way. There was no just like, ‘You’re gonna do this thing, and at the end of the take, you’re gonna kiss her.’ The romantic way of putting it was that I headbutted her. But I was 12, so, you know, I probably would have done the same thing if I was not on screen in front of the entire world.”

While Brown and Wolfhard’s first kiss may not have been perfect, it was certainly memorable. Despite the initial discomfort, Brown’s first kiss helped to propel her character’s storyline forward and added an extra layer of depth to her performance.
