Hollywood stars Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor first met in 1999 while working together on a TV pilot called Heat Vision and Jack, unfortunately, the project was scrapped but their relationship wasn’t. In just one year, the two decided to get married in Kauai, Hawaii.
Things went pretty smoothly for 17 years but then, the two announced their separation in 2017, however, 5 years after their split, the couple decided to give it another go as they announced that they were together once again. Taylor once explained that she didn’t expect their relationship to turn out the way it is, mainly because initially, both of them were looking for a rebound after a few failed relationships.
Ben Stiller was a rebound for Christine Taylor
Despite the challenges in their relationship, actors Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor have maintained a strong bond since their first meeting, which was back in 1999 on the sets of a TV pilot called Heat Vision and Jack. Taylor was joined by Stiller on her Hey Dude…The 90s Called! podcast in February and the two revealed that they became close because both of them were looking for a rebound,
“We were both each other’s, I would say, like, sort of rebound relationship a little bit.” Stiller then talked about their wedding, “We got engaged around when I was shooting Meet the Parents. Christine’s dad had a security company – and still does – and so it was kind of this weird parallel. He was very much like the Robert De Niro character to me.”
After their first meeting, they felt something special, so Stiller, who was filming a movie in New York at the time, invited Taylor to hang out with him. Less than a year later, the two got married.
Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor nearly got divorced
After 17 years of marriage, Stiller and Taylor released a joint statement in 2017 announcing their separation. The statement said,
“With tremendous love and respect for each other, and the 18 years we spent together as a couple, we have made the decision to separate,” adding, “Our priority will continue to be raising our children as devoted parents and the closest of friends. We kindly ask that the media respect our privacy at this time.”
However, in February 2022, Stiller revealed that he had moved back in with Taylor and their two kids, daughter Ella and son Quinlin. The actor said (via Esquire),
“Over the course of time, it evolved. We were separated and got back together and we’re happy about that. It’s been really wonderful for all of us. Unexpected, and one of the things that came out of the pandemic. I think we have a respect for the ways that we’re similar and the ways we’re different.”
So far, their relationship is going strong. The two were spotted with their daughter at the premiere of Taylor’s film Let Liv at the Tribeca Film Festival in June.
