“It was like demon possession”: Michael Keaton Impressed Beetlejuice 2 Director With His Role Despite Claiming “He had no burning desire” To Reprise Iconic Role

Michael Keaton Impressed Beetlejuice 2 Director With His Role Despite Claiming “He had no burning desire” To Reprise Iconic Role

Michael Keaton has had an impressive career over the years in Hollywood. From starring in movies like Batman and Birdman, the actor hasn’t let old age get to him with his fine set of acting skills still impressing directors.

With notable director Tum Burton in the mix, he and Keaton are going to create the upcoming 2024 movie titled Beetlejuice 2. The movie will serve as a sequel to the 1988 classic film which also saw Keaton in the lead role. That didn’t stop Tim Burton from getting impressed by Keaton for a second time as the director was left mesmerized.

Being a sequel, the upcoming movie will also feature Keaton and Ryder in the lead roles. Tim Burton will be returning to the movie as the director. Talking about how his relationship with Michael Keaton was, the director talked about it in an interview with BFI.

“Beautiful. He was the same way. He didn’t want to do it [initially] – he had no necessarily burning desire, but I have to say, it was the most fun. It reminded me of back in the old days, this unhinged thing unleashed on the set. I was quite shocked at how easy it was for him to kick it back into it. It was like demon possession.”

This wasn’t all since Tim Burton also revealed that he was excited to work alongside Wednesday alum Jenna Ortega once again on the sets of Beetlejuice 2.

In his continued interview, the director was asked what it was like working with Jenna Ortega again after the two worked together in Netflix’s iconic series Wednesday. Tim Burton stated in his interview with BFI that he couldn’t have done it without Jenna Ortega.

“When I did Wednesday, the reason I loved it is I just related to the character so much. But to me, it could not have been done without her. She’s one of the most aware, not only as an actress, but everything, around the camera, the set. She’s a very special talent. And she’s done a lot of horror movies, which I love too. That gave her a special place in my heart. “Oh, you’re doing another horror. Good.”

Beetlejuice 2 will star Michael Keaton alongside Winona Ryder and joining them for the ride will be Jenna Ortega, Monica Bellucci, and more. With Tim Burton as the director, the movie is slated for a release date of 6th September 2024 in the U.S.
