Michael Caine’s appeared in Jaws: The Revenge
Back in the 80s, Sir Michael Caine had already established himself as one of the most distinguished actors in the industry as he had already been nominated for an Academy Award 3 times before he took up the role of Hoagie Newcombe in Jaws: The Revenge. The movie turned out to be so bad that it flocked the franchise almost dead and only one more sequel of the Jaws came out. A few years ago, Sir Caine appeared for an Interview with Andrew Denton and talked about working on “one of the worst pictures” he did. He said,
“I had a little part in that [movie] and I was paid a million dollars for two weeks work. With that money, I bought her [his mother] a house. Someone said to me ‘I have seen Jaws 4 and it stinks.’ I said ‘I haven’t seen it but I’ve seen the house it bought my mother and it’s marvelous.'”
Lorraine Gary talked about working with Sir Michael Caine in Jaws: The Revenge
Lorraine Gary portrayed the role of Ellen Brody in Jaws: The Revenge which turned out to be the last movie of her acting career. The American actress took retirement after the movie. Gary was allegedly very excited about working alongside Sir Michael Caine in the movie and once in a press release for Universal News, she admired the extreme professionalism of the English actor, She said,
“The first day we were to work together I was nervous as a schoolgirl. We were shooting a Junkanoo Festival with noisy drums and hundreds of extras. But he never faltered in his concentration and he put me completely at ease. It was all so natural. He’s an extraordinary actor – and just a nice human being.”
Jaws: The Revenge definitely conveyed to the filmmakers that the era of shark film genres was over. The movie was criticized by fans and critics alike for its poor plot and underwhelming acting performance by the actors.
Jaws: The Revenge is currently available for rent on Apple TV+.
