Dafne Keen Had To Unlearn How To Be Feral!

Portraying the role of Laura aka X-23 was indeed a tough job for Dafne Keen who only had two years of screentime before she was cast in the role. Starring alongside veteran actor Hugh Jackman in Logan, Keen surpassed expectations and became the new fan-favorite character.

However, for the role of X-23, Dafne Keen had to learn how to become feral. Since Wolverine and X-23 had Adamantium claws, both the characters needed an animalistic feel to them which was similar to feral or wild-like.

After the 2017 film, Dafne Keen was recently cast in the upcoming TV series The Acolyte which is a part of the Star Wars franchise. In an interview with ScreenRant Plus, the actress revealed that she had to unlearn how to become feral since she was portraying the role of a Jedi.

It [the fighting style] was completely different and I came from a background of the goal, Laura’s goal from Logan was to kill. A Jedi doesn’t want to kill- the last thing they would do is kill.

She further continued,

Deflecting and protecting yourself. And also it’s about the form which I wasn’t used to. I was used to just- it was messy. It was feral and we were like an animal that was caged.

Dafne Keen further stated that when the crew told her to calm down and sort of pretend that fighting was like a meditation for the Jedi, that’s when she realized that she had to have a sort of grace while swinging the lightsaber.

With the actress joining the Star Wars franchise, Keen was asked an interesting question about her Logan character X-23. In a separate interview, Dafne Keen had an interesting answer when she was asked whether X-23 would make a good Jedi or not!

Dafne Keen On Whether X-23 Would Make A Good Jedi Or Not

There are a lot of differences between the X-Men and the Jedi. In the case of Dafne Keen’s X-23, it was the Adamantium claws and lightsabers. However, fans couldn’t help but wonder… what if X-23 was given a lightsaber during Logan?

During a red carpet event, IGN asked Keen if giving X-23 a lightsaber would make her a good Jedi or not. Well, here’s what the actress had for a response:

She’d be a very disobedient Jedi. She’s good, she’s a good person but she’s savage. They’d be reprimanding her all the time. I don’t know if she’d make it to Master, they’d be like ‘No, we’re keeping you down at Padawan, you’re too dangerous.’

The Acolyte revolves around a former Padawan who reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes. Boasting an intriguing story, the fans are indeed waiting patiently for the release of The Acolyte and see what this new generation of Star Wars has up its sleeves.

With Dafne Keen, Manny Jacinto, and, Amandla Stenberg in the mix, The Acolyte is set for a release date of 4 June 2024 on Disney+ in the U.S.
