With the recent release of the highly-anticipated The Flash from the DCEU finally out, it’s time that fans start forgetting about the old regime and focus on James Gunn and Peter Safran’s vision of the upcoming DCU. This means the cinematic universe made by Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot along with others will soon cease to be the centre of the DC Comics characters.

But before that could happen, the new management at DC Films made sure that they try to give these stars a proper send-off and tribute to their characters. Therefore, the recently released film brought us the appearance of Affleck’s Batman along with many new and familiar faces. But with recent reports coming in, we might’ve witnessed the last time when the star donned the cowl.

Ben Affleck May Not Return As Batman Ever Again!

While the former regime of the DCEU was never as amazing as its biggest rival in many aspects, what made it so memorable were the actors that were chosen by Zack Snyder to portray these superheroes from the pages of DC Comics. But with the dissolution of the old management at Warner Bros. Discovery, the new CEOs of DC Films were quick to dismantle the last remaining part of the cinematic universe, which included the firing of long-running actors like Ben Affleck, who plays the role of Batman.

But as the production of The Flash was already finished, Affleck was able to return to play the role of the caped crusader in the film. While he was also reported to be making his final appearance as The Dark Knight, in the upcoming Aquaman 2, new reports straight from the Gone Girl star himself point towards the fact that his days as Batman in the film industry may be over. In a recent interview with The Movie Report, Affleck said:

“The tone is a difficult thing with these movies, trying to figure out how serious, how dark, how funny, how engaging it is. And people that have done it really well have struck a balance with that tone, and I feel like Andy really did that with this movie. And it was a lot of fun. I really had a great time and it was over too soon.”

It was also reported before that though the star had shot many of his scenes as the vigilante of Gotham City in the upcoming Jason Momoa film, those scenes have been cut from the film at the last moment as changes have been made in the narration, which no longer requires his presence in the film. Thus, came the end of an era.

While it may be sad and disappointing that Affleck may be leaving us as Batman, there are still things to remain excited about. With the absolutely stellar performance by Robert Pattinson in Matt Reeves’ The Batman, James Gunn has decided to keep him as the superhero in DC’s Elseworlds franchise, while for the main DCU, the director has proposed a re-imagination of the character in the upcoming Batman: The Brave and The Bold.
