At the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, when Tom Holland bids farewell to his other versions, audiences cannot help themselves from choking up emotions, which ultimately led to them demanding to bring back these actors as Spider-Man on the big screen one more time. But when GQ asked Andrew Garfield whether he would want to do The Amazing Spider-Man 3, he quietly states his reason why he would not want to reprise his role as the amazing web-slinger in the third installment of his canceled film series.

“But doing [No Way Home] was really just kind of beautiful. I got to treat it like a short film about Spider-Man with buddies. The pressure was off of me. It was all on Tom’s shoulders. Like, it’s his trilogy. And me and Tobey were there to provide support and have as good a time as possible, actually, and be as inventive, imaginative, and kind of dumb as possible. Y’know, between the three of us, I was like, Oh shit, this is going to be interesting. You have three people who feel real ownership over this character. But it was really, like, brotherhood first, I think. And I think that comes through in what we shot.”

Garfield also reveals that his and Tobey Maguire’s only role as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home was so that they could support Tom Holland as the Spider-Man who was in the spotlight. They shared their wisdom with Holland’s Peter Parker to guide him in the ways of Spider-Man, and the responsibilities that they have to act upon.

Seeing the fans of the new Spider-Man films and the old demanding the returns of these stars back as the friendly neighborhood web-slingers is too litigious of an opportunity to pass for any studio. There have been a lot of rumors and talks about how or when we would see them, but as of the moment, nothing is set in stone. We would just have to keep calm and wait to see what we get, may it be from Sony Pictures or Marvel Studios.
