The MCU reached its crescendo in the last two Avengers films which also saw the return of Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye and Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man. They played significant roles in Avengers: Endgame which was the culmination of everything that the 21 movies before it was building up to.
Avengers: Infinity War set up the unprecedented threat of Thanos and the devastating loss of our heroes. Avengers: Endgame added the pressure of delivering a satisfying conclusion to the Infinity Saga.
The film delivered on all fronts and became a huge epic conclusion to the first saga of the MCU. The two characters played by Renner and Rudd helped significantly in defeating Thanos and avenging the loss caused by the irreversible blip.
It seems Renner and Rudd were hilariously and sarcastically unaware of the big loss in Avengers: Infinity War and the effect it had on the crew of Avengers: Endgame.
Jeremy Renner and Paul Rudd Hilariously Troll The Big Void Left By Avengers: Infinity War
Jeremy Renner and Paul Rudd were paired together for the press junket interviews of Avengers: Endgame. They were a hilarious duo and their various interviews for the film became very popular with the two actors having a really good time talking about the fun. They were both absent in Avengers: Infinity War and they were surprised (sarcastically) by the dour atmosphere when they came on the set of Avengers: Endgame. Rudd told ET Canada,
“It was really ugly actually. We had no idea what happened. We were like, ‘Guys what’s with all the long faces, where is everyone?’ It’s a little bit like getting an invitation to a really great party and you get there but most people have left cause you read the invitation wrong.”
Renner and Rudd’s funny antics and camaraderie became viral among fans at the time. They were really fun to watch. In addition to being beloved as Hawkeye and Ant-Man, fans began to see and love their funny nature and humble side, despite being huge stars.
Paul Rudd Was Mistaken For Ben Affleck in an Airplane
Celebrities being mistaken for other people has been a source of hilarious stories for many actors. Paul Rudd is also among these and he was once mistaken for Ben Affleck in an airplane by an individual. He told Access Hollywood,
“I have been mistaken for Ben Affleck in an airplane repeatedly. I actually said, ‘You know, people have told me that before But I really am not Ben Affleck, and they didn’t believe me’. I said, ‘No really I’m not’ and they were like ‘Okay okay’. Then 10 minutes later, they’re like ‘What’s Matt Damon like’ and I’m like ‘I don’t know, he seems like an awesome dude but I don’t know him’. So yeah I’ve gotten that a lot.”
Rudd recently appeared in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania which underperformed at the box office. He also starred in season 3 of Only Murders in the Building. He is set to star opposite Jenna Ortega in Death of a Unicorn and was also announced to star in the comedy The Invite alongside Amy Adams and Tessa Thompson.
