Actress Sophia Bush met actor Chad Michael Murray on the sets of the American drama series One Tree Hill in 2003. In just one year, the two got engaged and by April 2005, the two got married. However, in just 5 months, they got separated. Bush, who was just 22 back then, wasn’t ready to get married at a young age but she was pressurized by One Tree Hill executives. Things got worse when One Tree Hill executives used her divorce as a method to promote their show.
There were rumors that Murray cheated on Bush at the time, and a source also revealed that Bush was quite serious about the marriage, however, Murray didn’t share the same vision and that explains why their marriage came tumbling down.

During her appearance on the Armchair Expert podcast, actress Sophia Bush explained that her divorce was tough, particularly because One Tree Hill executives exploited her split in order to get higher show ratings,
“They were really deeply inappropriate to both of us about it. They ran like TV ads about it – It was really ugly.”
Bush met Chad Michael Murray on the sets of One Tree Hill in 2003 and got engaged one year later. Despite not being ready, Bush got married to Murray in 2005.
One Tree Hill executives pressurized Sophia Bush to get married
During her appearance on SiriusXM’s Radio Andy in 2018, Bush explained that she felt pressurized to get married by One Tree Hill executives,
“What’s the fight? When you have bosses telling you that you’re the only person who gets a person to work on time, and 200 people either get to see their kids at night or they don’t because our days start on time?”
Murray later labeled Bush’s statement as “ludicrous.” Bush’s friends once claimed that Murray was never serious about their marriage and that is the reason why they got separated just five months after getting married. Between 2008 and 2009, Bush also dated her One Tree Hill co-star James Lafferty.
Bush played the role of Brooke Davis in the show. On-screen, Bush showcased her remarkable acting talent with performances in various films and TV shows like Chicago P.D. (2014-2017), Love, Victor (2020), and Chicago Fire (2013-2017).
