Spielberg had initially contacted Nolan for a different reason, and coincidentally, both had recently received the print. They screened it for Spielberg individually, with Nolan sitting behind him during the viewing.

“He had called me about something else and I had just got the print as well and I hadn’t shown it to anyone…we screened it for him on his own. I sat behind him and watched him watch the film. It was sort of irresistible.”

The experience was described as extraordinary, with Spielberg sharing some kind words. Despite not intending to watch it with Spielberg, the opportunity to witness the acclaimed director’s reaction proved irresistible for Nolan.
