What was meant to be a harmless audio-only episode turned into a hilarious disaster when Bialik found herself in a rather unexpected predicament—getting spanked on screen. Bialik blames Chuck Lorre for this embarrassing twist, as the episode’s original format was supposed to spare her from such on-screen antics.

Mayim Bialik, the beloved Amy Farrah Fowler, spilled some hot tea on her most mortifying moment—thanks to Chuck Lorre’s brilliantly wild ideas. Although Bialik wasn’t among the core cast members, she soon became a fan-favorite as the nerdy, adorable neuroscientist.

But behind the scenes, the California-born actress was dealing with some seriously awkward choices for her character. Creator Lorre’s known to push actors to their limits, and he did the same with Bialik, making her get out of her comfort zone. And let’s just say this one TBBT scene? Total stuff for nightmares.

In a conversation with Larry King, Bialik revealed she had to do one scene where Jim Parsons (Sheldon Cooper) had to spank Amy off camera. It was supposed to be audio-only. So, the actress told the director that she’d voice the spanking scene off-camera. No biggie, right? But Lorre decided to film the whole thing live.

Bialik was caught completely off guard, facing the cameras with her scene partner, Parsons, without so much as a warm-up. Bialik told King (via The Things):

We had an episode where Sheldon was supposed to spank Amy off camera. It was supposed to be audio only. But then Lorre decided he would like that to be done on camera. And Jim and I had not at all rehearsed people seeing him spanking me.

The awkwardness was clear in the clip, from Parson’s nervous laughter, who then tapped on Bialik’s back as she faked a smile. “Excuse me, you’re not supposed to be enjoying this,” Sheldon tells Amy after the spank scene. She snaps back, “Then maybe you should spank me harder!” While it was a cringe-fest for the actors, this scene had the audience in stitches!

Mayim Bialik’s Pop Culture Jeopardy! Hosting Gig That Got Away

Mayim Balik almost added another game show gig to her resume. Per insiders, she was eyeing the host’s chair for the upcoming Pop Culture Jeopardy! The actress, who was unfortunately let go from Jeopardy! last year, clearly has the hosting bug. With her smarts and bubbly personality, she’d be a natural fit for the pop culture-focused game show.

But alas, it wasn’t meant to be. Colin Jost, the Saturday Night Live star, grabbed the opportunity from Bialik. We still can’t help but wonder if this is the last time we’ll see her on a game show. Fans love her, and we may expect her to make a comeback to Jeopardy! in the future.
