Austin Butler is a phenomenal actor but it wasn’t until he starred in the award-winning critically acclaimed film Elvis that he became world famous. The film not only garnered him critical praise and made him a global sensation overnight, but also got him his first Oscar nomination, a Golden Globe, a BAFTA, and much more.
Evidently shooting for the film wasn’t as easy because he spent three years trying to perfect his portrayal of Elvis Presley. However, it was after those three years that he began facing real challenges, and fans cannot believe how hard it was for him.

Austin Butler Had A Hard Time Getting Over Elvis
When Baz Luhrmann roped in Austin Butler for The King of Rock and Roll Elvis Presley’s biopic, everyone had their doubts. But the young star, completely shocking everyone, went on to get his first Oscar nomination for his brilliant portrayal. Earning numerous other nominations, the actor spent three years of his life totally immersed in the role.
The process was intense and Covid-19 only made it worse. However, the real challenge began after the actor had done filming, as he revealed in his recent appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
“It was a lot. I was just trying to remember who I was, I was trying to remember what I liked to do. All I thought about was Elvis for three years. I had a dialect coach just to help me not sound like Elvis in that film.”
The transition was made even worse for the actor only had one week off after Elvis wrapped up since he had to begin filming for Masters of the Air, the WWII drama and sister series of Band of Brothers and The Pacific. However, his revelation shocked fans, many of whom couldn’t believe how hard it was for the actor.
Fans Can’t Believe Austin Butler Had To Hire A Dialect Coach After Elvis
Austin Butler, in a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly, had revealed he went more than the extra mile to prepare for Elvis. Breaking it into time periods, creating his very own voice catalog, and listening to his voice over and over, it is only understandable that the actor had trouble returning back to normal.

Well, despite the shock, surprise, and inevitable criticism following Austin Butler’s revelations, his countless accolades and Oscar nomination only prove how much effort he put into the role.
