Before Johnny Depp and Amber Heard became embroiled in their lengthy defamation battle in court, the two were the It Couple of the film industry. Before their private details were made public and played in court and watched by thousands of people across the world, the two celebrities’ relationship was deemed to be picture-perfect.
First meeting on the set of the 2011 movie The Rum Diary, both were quick to praise each other in numerous interviews. But what really caught the fancy of fans was the second giant engagement ring that Depp brought his fiancée, which was reportedly worth $100,000, after the first one was too big for his girl.
Johnny Depp Had To Wear Amber Heard’s Rejected Engagement Ring
The rumors of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard‘s romance began flying around back in 2011, back when they were still in romantic relationships with others. However, they soon became single and were said to be in a relationship that soon turned heads due to the vast age difference between them (via People).
But that hardly stopped them for in 2014 they were reported to be engaged. The couldn’t-be-more-happier couple (as the rest of the Hollywood couples usually are before they suddenly break up) were then spotted wearing engagement rings.
However, it was Depp’s engagement ring that created considerable buzz for he was wearing his chick’s ring (via US Weekly). Wearing it on his left ring finger, the actor even wore it during an appearance on the David Letterman Late Show (via YouTube), where he revealed the reason why he wore it,
“I have a female engagement ring on my finger. It was too big for my girl. She has the other one that fits.”
And so while he did not return the big engagement ring, the actor being the gentleman he is got Heard another engagement ring that the Daily Mail reported was worth about $100,000. While we can say now that was a lot of money to waste, the two engagement rings just show the generous man Depp is when it comes to relationships and love.
A $100,000 Ring Wasn’t the Only Thing Johnny Depp Gifted Amber Heard
Other than a huge diamond ring worth a fortune, the Pirates of the Caribbean star spent lavishly on his ex-wife. Apart from the two engagement rings, the actor also reportedly spent a lot of money to spoil his ex, back when they were still in a loving relationship and not calling each other out in court.
Depp also gifted Heard a $50,000 Niel Lane diamond drop earrings as a Christmas gift in 2013, a pretty rare Earnest Hemingway book titled In Our Time, worth $155,000 for the bibliophile Heard, a Leonor Fini painting worth $245,000, as well as many more extravagant gifts that one can only dream of (via South China Morning Post).
While we don’t know what extravagant gifts Heard gifted her ex-partner, we do know she very graciously gifted him a large knife as a present with the Spanish phrase hasta la muerte (until death) inscribed on it (via Independent).
