Paula Patton Reveals Unforgettable Kissing Scene With Tom Cruise

In an episode of Live with Kelly and Ryan, Hitch actress Paula Patton revealed what it was like kissing an A-list star like Tom Cruise:

It’s not the best, but it was great. I will tell you that the kiss from Tom Cruise was a surprise. He had amazing breath. It wasn’t minty. It was just perfect.”

The Mission Impossible actor did not only surprise his on-screen partner with his fresh breath but also made sure her experience was unforgettable.

Patton’s role as Jane Carter in the Mission Impossible franchise was well-loved by fans, and it was very disappointing when the news broke out that she won’t return for future installments.

This has become a problem with the movie franchise not being able to bring back their female lead stars, the same thing that happened to Mission Impossible 3 actress Maggie Q. It was Rebecca Ferguson’s Ilsa Faust that broke the curse and finally made a staple character in the succeeding installments.

The Perfect Match star did not reprise her role as Jane Carter because of scheduling conflicts, although she was meant to return in the sequel. However, it was unclear as to what project hindered her supposed comeback to the Mission Impossible movies.

There is no report yet of Patton returning to the franchise, but director Christopher McQuarrie has expressed interest in bringing her back into the loop. The two-part film series is meant to wrap up Cruise’s Ethan Hunt story, so if she ever makes a cameo in Part Two of Dead Reckoning, it would not be much of a surprise.

Aside from kissing Tom Cruise, the 47-year-old Warcraft star shared that working with him gave her an incredible time. Paula Patton told BANG Showbiz (via NDTV):

It was an amazing experience. Those are the moments you dream of as an actress. He is very generous in that he wants to share the spotlight with everyone and make everyone shine.”

Since she became known to the world as Jane Carter, the actress had to undergo rigorous training for the movie, especially after she gave birth only five months prior to the filming:

In the wish to do all my own stunts it was quite a bit of training, especially because I’d just had my son five months prior so as you can imagine, I wasn’t in tip-top shape. It wasn’t just about the outward appearance, which of course got affected, but it was about being able to do these stunts.”

Being able to pull off the stunts finally made Patton feel that she was destined to play Jane Carter. Though, only time will tell if the actress will once again cross paths with Tom Cruise.

Mission: Impossible films are available on Paramount+ and Prime Video.
