Brie Larson is unquestionably one of the most talented actresses in all of Hollywood right now. She made a name for herself in films such as Room, Scott Pilgrim v.s. The World, Short Term 12, and more. Unfortunately, her role in Captain Marvel has become a black spot in an otherwise spotless resume, with The Marvels’ failure at the Box Office adding salt to the wounds Even then, Larson fans are in denial about the film’s failure.
Brie Larson began her career in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel, which received mixed responses from fans and critics alike. It never got any better for her, as her role as Captain Marvel took a downward spiral with each appearance – The Marvels being the final nail in the coffin.

The Marvels Was A Spectacular Failure At The Box Office
The Marvels starring Brie Larson, Iman Vellani, and Teyonah Parris were released on November 10th, 2023. Despite the high-profile cast, the film didn’t really set the world on fire in any way, which was a sign that fans were just done with anything related to Marvel – with Captain Marvel’s character bearing the brunt of the damage.
As per Variety, the film made the record for the lowest-grossing domestic weekend opening for any Marvel movie in history, as it crossed just $47 million domestically. It also has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 62% and IMDB of 6/10, making it somewhat above average but not a worthwhile watch whatsoever.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie received a 78-80% drop-off in its second weekend at the box office, making it the worst drop of any Hollywood superhero movie ever. The film also finally ended its run this week, as it is now officially the lowest-grossing Marvel film in history.
Brie Larson Fans Clutched At Straws Trying To Defend The Marvels‘ Failure
Despite the glaring flaws in the movie and abysmal Box Office record, there are still some Marvel stans, notably Brie Larson fans, who defend the movie no matter what. In fact, one pro-Brie Larson fan took to Twitter and commented on a post which noted how the movie is the lowest-grossing Marvel film in history.
The fan noted that the film will be the only MCU film in history to be affected by the SAG-AFTRA strike, claiming that the strike is the reason for the film’s failure – which many felt was a pathetic excuse at best. Other people on Twitter understandably went after the fan for this, calling them out for being in denial so much.
So we just forgetting about the movies that came out during the pandemic now? the cope is real lol

Let's ignore the fact that Barbie and Oppenheimer made a billion dollars, with the same problems, and that #TheMarvels been outgrossed by an horror movie

Strike had nothing to do with it.

I’m pretty sure if they did promote the film it would have done even worse. The copium is strong in this one. 😂

Five nights at Freddy’s was affected by the strike, and was the highest grossing film for Blumhouse… Godzilla minus one had zero promotion in the states with no actors talking about the movie… Massive success. Some movies people just don’t like. It’s not a conspiracy

It’s become apparent that Marvel has to think of a new plan for their next slew of movies if they want to capture fan attention again. Regardless, The Marvel Cinematic Universe is in a terrible state right now, so we’ll have to see if they will be able to fix their issues soon.
