Talking about his return, he said, “Yes, it will even be a dual role.” He further mentioned that he is excited to work with Ryan Reynolds, with whom he has been friends for twenty years. “We have a lot of fun together. We are filming this summer,” he said.

Due to the interview being in French, it is not yet confirmed whether he was talking about his character’s “dual role” or his dual with his co-star. But the statement has led to the assumption that the threequel could feature multiple variants of Wolverine.

With the possibility of time travel and multiverse, having multiple variants does make sense. Although nothing is officially confirmed yet, anything could be possible for Deadpool as he roams freely across the multiverse with a time machine.

Deadpool 3 to Take Place Before Logan

After playing the character for over a decade, Hugh Jackman finally gave rest to his X-Men character. After the 2017 film, he announced that he would not be playing Wolverine anymore. Jackman, however, was unable to hold back his desire to star alongside Deadpool after watching the Ryan Reynolds feature.

He was asked about the Logan director’s reaction to his comeback. Jackman said that James Mangold was “really cool about it” once he told him that the film would take place before the events of the 2017 film.

“He was actually really cool about it. I did tell him that it took place before our movie, so I wasn’t gonna screw with the claws popping out of the grave. So he was relieved by that, and he totally got it. He thought it was a good idea.”

Both Reynolds and Jackman said in their announcement video that Deadpool 3 would not temper with the events of Logan, the film that concluded Wolverine’s story on a high note. Deadpool 3 and the upcoming projects of the MCU have a lot to explore in its Multiverse Saga. And Deadpool and Wolverine would also join the action with the upcoming film.

Deadpool 3 is set to release on November 8, 2024.
