The Invincible series on Amazon recently started premiering part 2 of the second season after almost three months since the first half of the season premiered back in November. The new strategy benefitted the show as it gave more time to audiences to process what happened in the first four episodes and look forward to what will happen in the final four episodes.
The huge success of the first season led to the show being renewed for two seasons. However, the wait for the second season proved to be much longer than expected. A new update about the third season will make fans happy as the makers are set to rectify past mistakes regarding the release schedule.
Invincible Season 3 Is Coming Sooner Than Fans Expect
Invincible Season 1 was a great introduction to a gritty and unique superhero tale, led by Steven Yeun’s Mark Grayson, trying to prove his worth to his father, the legendary Omni-Man. The second season continued the complex relationship between them after the cataclysmic events of the first season. Fans were hooked on the show and were ready for more adventures with its characters.
However, season 2 took a very long time to premiere than fans expected. Season 2 premiered in November 2023, more than two years after the end of season 1. Currently, part 2 of the second season started airing, and a third season of the series has been announced. However, fans are worried that they will have to wait for a similarly long gap between seasons 2 and 3.
The showrunner of Invincible Simon Racioppa told The Direct that they are deep into finishing the third season. While he can’t reveal the exact release date, he promised that there won’t be that long of a gap (like seasons 1 and 2) between seasons 2 and 3. He also claimed that the progress of the third season is looking great. He said,
“Amazon picked up two and three together. So, we are deep in Season 3 at this point. So I can’t tell you exactly [when], but I can tell you it will not be the same wait between [seasons] 1 and 2… We’re well in progress on Season 3, and it’s coming along great.”
This is great news for fans who are enjoying the second season and are already looking forward to what the future entails for the characters. As work on season 3 has been going on for quite some time now, fans can expect Amazon to release it most probably early next year.
Steven Yeun Acknowledges the Long Gap Between Invincible Season 1 and 2
Steven Yeun is voicing Mark Grayson in Amazon’s hit series Invincible. The series is currently left with two episodes of the second season. With a third season in the works, Yeun recently spoke to Collider about its progress and his contribution to the third season.
He admitted that the long gap between seasons 1 and 2 was not fun, and they are trying their best not to repeat it with season 3. Yeun and the other actors are working hard and are making use of proper time to ensure that there is no unnecessary delay. He said,
“For us, we know that this big break was not fun. We’ve been working hard to get a lot of backlog done. We wanna time this animation thing appropriately. So, yeah, we’ve been working. We’re banking episodes, we know what’s going on.”
For now, no exact release date has been revealed for the third season. However, fans can heave a sigh of relief that they won’t have to wait too long for their favorite characters to return in season 3. Seasons 1 and 2 of Invincible are streaming on Amazon Prime.
