Following Jensen Ackles’ addition to the cast of the hit show The Boys, fans began to notice an interesting pattern. Not long after, news broke that Jeffrey Dean Morgan would also be joining the upcoming fourth season. Devoted followers of the immensely popular series CW’s Supernatural immediately recognized these familiar faces, as both actors had previously made their mark on the CW show.
With the showrunner of The Boys, Eric Kripke who is also the creative mastermind behind Supernatural, speculation is swirling that Jared Padalecki might be the next familiar face to join the cast, especially considering the showrunner’s enthusiasm to bring him on board. Fans are buzzing with excitement at the thought of yet another beloved star reunion on the screen.
The Boys Showrunner Eric Kripke Will Keep This Tradition at All Costs!
After Jensen Ackles and Jeffrey Dean Morgan from Supernatural joined the cast of The Boys, fans naturally wondered why Jared Padalecki, another prominent Supernatural actor, wasn’t part of the fun.
During an interview with Entertainment Times, The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke, who also happened to be the creator of CW’s Supernatural, expressed his desire to collaborate with Padalecki on the Prime series even if it was just for a single episode arc.
Fans were thrilled at the prospect, but complications arose as Padalecki was already committed to CW’s Walker. However, Kripke hinted at the possibility of future collaborations, keeping the excitement alive among fans. He said,
Texts have been sent, I feel like it would be a bummer to not have Jared on the show one way or another at this point, even if it’s just the one-episode thing. He’s been shooting Walker, but with that show wrapping up, maybe he’ll have some time to come in and play with us. I would love it. We have definitely talked about it.
Another actor, Nathan Mitchell, famed for portraying Kelvin in Supernatural, has also been an integral part of The Boys’ journey from the very beginning, portraying the mysterious vigilante Black Noir.
Although fans thought Padalecki was unlikely to feature in the upcoming fourth season, set to premiere this June, recent developments hint at new possibilities.
Does the Walker Cancellation Open the Door for Jared Padalecki to Join The Boys
With the cancellation of Walker, the show that kept Jared Padalecki occupied and away from joining The Boys’ party, a golden opportunity arises. This feels like it is now meant to be, perhaps, a match made in heaven.
The actor himself confirmed the news with a written announcement on Instagram stating,
It is with a heavy heart that I share this news with you. #Walker will not be airing on [the] CW for a fifth season. It’s a tough piece of news to be sure, but we are SO thankful for the #WalkerFamily that has been built, both on set and off. After four seasons together, we have felt the love and support from the entire #WalkerFamily, and we will be forever grateful.
The network CW also in a separate statement stated (via EW),
We want to thank the entire cast, crew, writers, directors and producers of Walker for their hard work and dedication over four incredible seasons. We also want to give a special thanks to star and executive producer Jared Padalecki, who has been a member of the CW family for over 20 years and was integral to some of the biggest hits on the network.
Fans are eagerly awaiting updates, and are hoping for the actor to enthusiastically accept the offer. With the stars of Supernatural reuniting on screen once again after 2019, it’s sure to be a thrilling ride.
The Boys season 4 will stream on Prime Video from June 13.
