Robert Downey Jr. and Kevin Feige began the MCU with the first Iron Man film. The movie cost $140 million and grossed $585 million worldwide. Over the years, various tidbits about the making of the film have been released to the public. We now know that the producers had more hopes for The Incredible Hulk rather than Iron Man. But the opposite happened.

Also, we know that the production of the film was troubled. One of the main stars even confessed that there wasn’t a set script while they were shooting the film. But even then, the movie made history. Now, more information about Iron Man has come out with a producer alleging that multiple embarrassing scenes didn’t make it in the final cut.

Iron Man’s Associate Producer Reveals Kevin Feige Hid Embarrassing Scenes Of The Film

In an interview with Screen Rant, the associate producer of Iron Man (2008) Jeremy Latcham, revealed a funny and yet interesting detail about the film. He stated that there were more than a couple of scenes from the film that had never been released to the public. It was Marvel boss Kevin Feige who prevented their release simply because they would reveal one major secret about the production of the movie. Latcham said:

“There are still three or four deleted scenes from [Iron Man] that I don’t think will ever be released because they were so bad. I remember Kevin saying to me in 2012 when I was like, ‘Should we put the Abu doing laundry deleted scenes out?’ And Kevin was like, ‘No. We can never put out Abu doing laundry. People will know we don’t know what we’re doing. It’ll be embarrassing if they see these scenes.'”

That’s not all. Apart from Abu, there was a scene of Tony Stark doing laundry as well. Now, every film has scenes that get cut because they don’t fit into the tone, plot, character arc, and other parts of the movie. But a scene of Tony Stark washing clothes would have been too absurd to even think about putting into the final cut of Iron Man. Latcham said:

“But there was a whole runner in Iron Man where Tony Stark was doing laundry and I don’t think they’ve ever come out. Someone should look into it, but I don’t think they’ve ever been seen. Tony is doing laundry for the captors, but he’s really breaking the washing machine and stealing parts from it to build the Mark 1 suit. It’s so absurd. It’s wild.”

It would have been wild and funny to watch Tony Stark steal washing machine parts. But Kevin Feige is probably right. The scene probably wouldn’t have landed well with most audiences. Also, it could have exposed the production issues that were smartly hidden.

Jeff Bridges, who played Obadiah Stane in the Robert Downey Jr.-led film, said in an interview with InContention that Iron Man had a troublesome production. The actor admitted that the director and actors had to make up a lot of dialogue and other things along the way. Bridges even straight up revealed that there wasn’t even a set script to follow. He said:

“They had no script, man. They had an outline. We would show up for big scenes every day and we wouldn’t know what we were going to say. We would have to go into our trailer and work on this scene and call up writers on the phone, ‘You got any ideas?’ Meanwhile, the crew is tapping their foot on the stage waiting for us to come on.”

Expectedly, this freaked out the actor. But Bridges revealed that director Jon Favreau was unphased. He explained, “Jon dealt with it so well. “It freaked me out. I was very anxious. I like to be prepared… That was very irritating, and then I just made this adjustment. So I said, ‘Oh, what we’re doing here, we’re making a $200 million student film. We’re all just fuckin’ around! We’re playin’. Oh, great!’ That took all the pressure off.” The movie did turn out amazing and essentially gave birth to the still-running Kevin Feige-led MCU.

Iron Man is streaming on Disney+.
