As it turns out, before everyone else, one fan already knows the ending to One Piece – one die-hard fan with whom Eiichiro Oda went and shared how the Shounen manga will end himself. But who is that one fan? And what does he know about the ending to Monkey D. Luffy’s story? Here are all your answers.

Ever since the One Piece manga reached its Final Saga back in August 2022, fans have been dying to know how the manga series, which has been going on for more than two decades, will end. Will Monkey D. Luffy finally succeed and become the King of Pirates? Will he find the One Piece? Surprisingly enough, one fan does have the answer to all of these.

This fan is a boy named Hinati Fujinami who, when he discovered he has chronic incurable lung cancer, made a wish to the Make-A-Wish foundation to know the end of Luffy and the Straw Hats’ adventures in the manga series by Eiichiro Oda himself. As it turns out, his wish was fulfilled and Oda himself went to the hospital in tears and told the young boy how the manga would end after asking him not to tell anyone.

Furthermore, it was also reported that when the manga creator left, Fujinama was left sobbing, and his answer to why he was crying was (via Softonic):

“It’s a beautiful ending.”

While this is a rather emotional story indeed, this is notoriously untrue for the following reasons: 1. Because the Japanese language does not include the syllable ‘ti’, thus, ‘Hinati’ is not a Japanese name, and 2. When this rumor spread around ten years ago, Eiichiro Oda most probably had no idea himself how One Piece was supposed to end just beyond a simple outline.

How Will One Piece Actually End: The Only Way To Know

One Piece: How will it end?
One Piece: How will it end?

Since all those points deem the story all the more untrue, the fact that is most probably true is that no fan knows how One Piece will end. However, there is one way to still know the end of the manga because Eiichiro Oda already has the entire plot in his head, and he’s not the only one who knows it: as per reports, the main editors of the manga are well aware of his plot as well.

Not only this, but his assistants might know the plot too if Oda is close enough to share it with them. But – yes, there’s one more ‘but’ here – to figure out the author’s plans for the series, you will have to acquire more than just the average understanding of the Japanese language.

Jokes apart, considering what an inevitable masterpiece One Piece has been so far, fans can’t help but hold on to the hope of an even better ending – in fact, hold on to the hope of an ending, at that. However, until Eiichiro Oda himself draws it out, there is no confirmation of how Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hats’ ending will be.
