The first solo Black Widow movie took a long while to come and fans have since then been awaiting the news of a potential sequel in the future. Scarlett Johansson finally got her movie, something fans had asked for over a decade. While the response that the movie got wasn’t as great, somewhat mediocre even; it managed to establish various new characters.

These characters had been exceptionally well received. They were singling out Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova and David Harbour’s Red Guardian. Even though a sequel is nowhere to be seen in the upcoming phases, there have been reports of at least one of the slated movies posing as a continuation of what Black Widow and Natasha Romanoff set up.

Black Widow’s Premise Will Be Continued In Upcoming MCU Movies

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has already given out an idea as to what fans can expect in the near future of the franchise. However, there had been some dismay among them when there was no Black Widow sequel even mentioned. While both Alexei and Yelena will be seen teaming up once again in the Thunderbolts movie, it is still unknown when an official sequel will be in the works.

Scarlett Johansson in and as Black Widow

“Taskmaster, the Red Guardian, Yelena, AND Valentina Allegra de Fontaine will be returning in the upcoming THUNDERBOLTS film. It’s like it’s a Black Widow sequel & these movies are connected or something! 😉 It’s gonna get interesting”

Andy Park, who is the executive of Marvel Studios has recently confirmed that a movie in the future phases will pose as the sequel to Scarlett Johansson’s standalone film. The story of the girls in the Red Room can be continued with Florence Pugh‘s character even though Natasha Romanoff is no longer alive in the MCU. The new book The Art of Black Widow revealed that Thunderbolts would indeed be a pseudo-sequel to the movie.

A still from Black Widow

Thunderbolts will bring back characters from the Black Widow movie, including Taskmaster, Yelena Belova, and Red Guardian. Other characters who will also be establishing the future of Johansson and Pugh’s franchise would be Valentina De Fontaine and General Thunderbolt Ross. It is only fair for it to be considered somewhat of a sequel as a big number of the characters will be going across from one movie to another. Thunderbolts connects the worlds of many different heroes and villains in the MCU and brings them together to form one big team.
