Being a veteran in this niche field for years now, Lorre has constantly heard criticisms targeted towards sitcoms and their relevance in the future. But as far as the creator was concerned, these opinions did not hold water as he believed firmly that the genre wasn’t going to disappear anytime soon.

Chuck Lorre Is Confident That Sitcoms Are Here To Stay

The success of Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory amply proved that Chuck Lorre was always meant to be a sitcom creator and writer. With other notable shows like Young Sheldon and Bookie, he has proved that he is completely worthy of his moniker, ‘King of sitcoms’.

Despite being a veteran in the field since the 80s, Lorre confessed to The Wrap that he had constantly heard from various corners that the sitcom was dying and will no longer stay relevant through generations. But the creator revealed that the genre proved everyone wrong by constantly reinventing itself.

And then somebody comes along and does something wonderful with the form. Suddenly, it’s a genuinely legitimate form again. I’ve seen the obituary too many times to think that it’s for.

Meanwhile, the producer’s latest show Bookie starring comedian Sebastian Maniscalco, has been renewed for a second season (via Variety). The series follows a veteran bookie who navigates the tricky passage leading to the legalization of sports gambling while handling unstable clients. Season 2 will also see Charlie Sheen back in a more significant role after his guest appearance as himself in the 1st season.

Chuck Lorre Fondly Remembered These Famous Guest Cameo Moments

The eccentric Sheldon Cooper and friends contributed to some of the country’s brightest minds in the popular sitcom, The Big Bang Theory that went on to win audiences’ hearts, thanks to creator Chuck Lorre. The show which was based on the lives of brilliant science geeks who awkwardly navigate social life, also saw many real-life scientists and technological pioneers making cameo appearances.

On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the show in 2022, creators Lorre and Bill Prady went down memory lane and reminisced about many unforgettable experiences on set involving these real-life celebrities. One of them included Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak who made a guest appearance in the 4th season.

But Wozniak’s association with the show did not end with just his cameo in this episode. Speaking to EW, Lorre recalled how the tech mogul made himself comfortable on set and graciously spent time with the cast and crew even when the cameras were not rolling.

Steve actually came back and visited like five more times after he filmed his episode. He’d come by and just hang out.

Apart from Wozniak, the series also saw Bill Gates, Elon Musk, and the great Stephen Hawking making appearances, along with other prominent figures from the tech and science world.
