While it may be time for the DCEU to fall in order to make way for James Gunn and Peter Safran’s vision to take its place, there are still a significant number of fans who are loyal to the image that director Zack Snyder had in his head for a DC cinematic universe. And to this day, his name creates a sense of melancholy when it’s heard and talked about in the current development of the new DCU.
And not only do fans sing the praises of the forefather of the DCEU, stars who have had the pleasure to work with him have nothing but good things to say about him. One such former co-worker who had worked with him also had nothing but a string of compliments for him in terms of how they worked on bringing a vision to life.
Ben Affleck Praises Zack Snyder
While the DCEU may now be in ruins and on the verge of collapse, the start of this wonderful yet outgoing cinematic franchise was an exceptional one indeed, brought to life by the one and only Zack Snyder, the man behind films in the earlier days of the franchise. And while he may no longer be a part of the company anymore, his work will always precede him. And this belief is not just from his fans, but also his former co-worker and Hollywood star Ben Affleck.
During a recent screening of Zack Snyder’s Justice League at the Zack Snyder Full Circle event, the crowd was also graced with the presence of the two-time Oscar Award winner. Here, he talked about what it was like to work with the Watchmen director on this visionary project. Affleck also couldn’t help but praise just how great Snyder was while he worked with him on several different occasions. He said:
“As soon as he sees that thing that bounces off him, it’s very wonderful to work with someone who’s not clouded by a bunch of other thoughts or opinions or ‘What are they gonna say? What are they gonna do? How many followers do they have?’ Whatever it is, immediately, and listen, he has an opinion, and he has a strong one. And that’s kind of what you want as an actor, very much, whether it’s good or bad. ‘Are we doing this or are we doing that? You want me for the movie or you don’t?’ You know what I mean? Both are fine, I just want to know, let’s not do 15 auditions and do a whole circus. And that’s one of the beautiful things about Zack and his process is that he is worked by instinct and decisive and absolutely self-assured of that, and it’s a very calming thing to have in a director, to go ‘OK, he knows where we’re going, so I’m gonna follow him.'”
Thus, with the rumor that Affleck won’t wear the cowl of the caped crusader after the upcoming The Flash, we see final goodbye from both individuals who created the DCEU from the ground up.
What To Expect From The DCU?
With the end of the old DCEU ever so close to the horizon, the dawn of a new cinematic universe led by the characters from DC Comics under James Gunn and Peter Safran’s supervision is also closer than ever.
