Previously, following the massive success of the globally loved masterpiece Dune in 2022, filmmaker Denis Villeneuve appeared on an episode of Variety’s Awards Circuit podcast to share about other projects on his docket at the time.

Among these was another book-based movie Rendezvous with Rama, which the director called, “‘Arrival’ on steroids”. Furthermore, he also shared that the screenplay for this film will start soon.

More than a year after Villeneuve’s revelation, Oscar-nominated screenwriter Eric Roth recently revealed a similar indirect update on the film on Episode 79 of the Script Apart podcast. He said:

“I just wrote a movie for Denis Villeneuve… We’ll see what ends up happening with it, but it’s about space and time, and it’s very lonely. It’s certainly about eternity.”

Although he didn’t name the film or share any other clear updates about the movie, his comment was traced back to Villeneuve talking about “‘Arrival’ on steroids” and fans just can’t wait for further updates about the filmmaker’s next presumed masterpiece.
