Matt Damon will play the character of Leslie Groves in Oppenheimer

As the release of the movie is coming closer, the star cast of Oppenheimer is talking about their characters. Matt Damon will be seen playing the character of Leslie Groves who appointed J. Robert Oppenheimer on the Nuclear project. During an interview, the Air actor talked about how he prepared for his role in Oppenheimer. Damon also mentioned that they shot in a desert for the movie. While talking about the filming, the Jason Bourne actor said,

“It’s beautiful yet desolate. It’s where Georgia O’Keeffe went to paint, basically, so it has very much that feeling. It’s got that expansive desert beauty. It’s a remarkable place.”

Damon also mentioned that the production designer designed an original town for the filming of the movie. The actor stated that everything looked very real in that designed set.

As Christopher Nolan is the creative force behind Oppenheimer, people are having some high expectations from the movie. Damon also mentioned the exacting standards, the 52-year-old filmmaker tries to attain. While talking about the director, the Stillwater actor said,

“He’s so exacting. There’s been so much work before you get there, and you can feel it when you walk on the set. The level of detail is really exquisite.”

Damon also shared some details about his role in the movie. The Interstellar actor prepared a lot to get the character right. While talking about his character Leslie Groves, Damon said,

“Groves was a military man, and so much of that ethos is about compartmentalization and the need to know all of the stuff. And the scientists were all about sharing information so that they can get the truth right…there was this constant tension. The scientists felt it was actually necessary to be sharing all the information that they could, and the military felt we had to try to make whatever gains we could without giving away any of our secrets.”
