Sam Worthington Has A Massive Update for Avatar 4
Following the huge box-office success of Avatar and Avatar: The Way of Water, James Cameron has a lineup of a few sequels to make it a predominant franchise with a high success rate going overboard a billion-dollar mark with ease. Netflix action comedy Lift star and Avatar franchise lead Sam Worthington recently dropped a massive update for Avatar 4. “We go back to work on it in a month and it’s big. It’s bigger than you can imagine,” Worthington told People on Monday at the Lift premiere held at Lincoln Center in New York City.
Cameron’s untitled Avatar 3 is scheduled to hit the theater on 19 December 2025 and the director has recently assured that the movie is right on track and will be ready for the 2025 release.
“We did the [motion capture] capture on three and the live-action photography on three as an intermingled production with [‘Avatar: The Way of Water’], and we even did part of movie four because our young characters are all going to have a big time jump in movie four. We see them and then we go away for six years and we come back. And so the part where we come back is the part we haven’t shot yet. So we’ll start on that after three is released,” Cameron told People.
Reportedly, Cameron shot Avatar 3 and a portion of Avatar 4 with the $2.3 billion movie The Way of Water to corroborate the age continuity among the primary characters. Avatar 4 is scheduled for December 21, 2029 release, and Avatar 5 will hit the theaters on December 19, 2031— 22 years after the original 2009 movie of the franchise.
James Cameron on The Chracaters’ Journey in Avatar 3
The epic sci-fi franchise has not just limited to the astounding cash flow. Cameron made sure to live up to his marvelous cinematic vision with technological breakthroughs in cinema. Certainly, Avatar is one of the pioneers of modern-day VFX prowess in movies. Also, the character development in the franchise has been another source of accolades the movies received from critics and fans alike. Avatar 3 will be the continuation of that trait. “The big [creative] advance in [‘Avatar 3’] is just going to be greater character depth,” Cameron told GQ earlier.
“We’re seeing new cultures, new creatures — all the same stuff you’d expect from an ‘Avatar’ movie, but the whole idea of this cycle of films is to live with these people and go on this epic journey with them. So I think it’s not about, ‘We’re going to show you the best water [VFX] ever done’ — but you get more into the heart and soul of the characters. And there’s some very interesting new characters that come in as well. This is a journey over time. It will play out through movie three, into movie four and movie five. There’s an epic cycle to the whole thing.”
Certainly, for fans and critics, Avatar is an immersive experience with epic storytelling and with grandeur journey of the characters. Avatar 3 will further enhance the experience with an introduction to an aggressive, volcanic race named Ash People.
Avatar and Avatar: The Way of Water are available to stream on Disney Plus.
