Jenna Ortega has aced in every genre and role she has been cast in to date, especially in the horror-thriller genre. If anything, she has become incredibly popular for her excellent acting chops in this respective genre, so much so that she is now best renowned for her performances in the same. That being said, she has influenced a lot of people with this talent of hers as well.
One of the people so deeply impressed by her was none other than Michael Keaton, with whom Ortega was working on the sequel to 1998’s masterpiece comedy-horror, Beetlejuice. In fact, the extent to which Keaton was impressed by her brilliance in the horror genre was so high that he even credited her for making his life easy while working together on the upcoming Beetlejuice 2!
Michael Keaton on Working with Jenna Ortega: “She was perfect, just perfect”
After the masterpiece that was 1993’s Beetlejuice, Michael Keaton has once again returned as the titular character for the horror-comedy’s sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. Though this time, the cast has earned yet another star-studded addition with the ‘Scream Queen’ Ortega.
Since Jenna Ortega has always shown brilliance while working on her projects — especially the horror ones, this one was no exception either. And admitting to this claim was none other than Keaton himself, whose impression of Ortega in one word is simply “perfect.”
Well, at least that’s what the Batman actor shared recently at CinemaCon while sharing how his younger co-star even ended up helping him out. He said (via @GeekVibesNation on X):
“I was nervous to see if we could pull this off again. But every day just got better. It’s easy when you don’t carry the whole thing. Like Jenna, she just got it. And she was perfect, just perfect.”
As amazing as that sounds, it’s not really a surprise, considering how the Wednesday Addams portrayer has displayed her magnificent charms in the horror fields one too many times and has been widely commended for the same by both fans and critics alike.
But there is something else too that perfectly parallels Ortega’s brilliance in acting spooky: The upcoming sequel to Beetlejuice that will mark her official debut in the Beetlejuice universe.
Michael Keaton says Beetlejuice 2 is “Great”
While praising his co-star was one thing, Keaton had something else to say as well during his surprise appearance at Warner Bros‘ CinemaCon presentation for the Beetlejuice sequel: That Beetlejuice 2 is nothing short of a masterpiece either.
As reported by Deadline, he initially admitted that he and director Tim Burton had “kicked the notion around” for more than “three or five years.” Then mentioning how he has already watched this upcoming film twice, he said:
“Finally, we got it right. But also the script — it’s very difficult thing to write. Frankly, I followed his lead. I’ll tell you this, though, it’s really f*cking good. In fact, it’s great.”
There you have it; the true description of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice in the words of Keaton himself. Then there are all the fan-favorite actors who would be returning to the saga, including Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara reprising their respective iconic roles.
So what are you waiting for? Start preparing all your spooky dress-ups for this brilliant sequel, for the much-anticipated Beetlejuice 2 will soon be gracing your presence before you even know it!
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is set for a release date of the 5th of September, 2024.
