Christina Applegate’s saddening MS diagnosis in 2021 was a real shock to the actor and her fans across the world. The disease also took a big toll on the Vacation star’s successful career, while causing her immense physical and emotional pain as well. Applegate, who was filming the final season of her hit show Dead to Me when she was diagnosed, spoke of the trauma of working on a film set while suffering from an illness. In a candid revelation to Vanity Fair, she put things in perspective and said,

“It’s exhausting. Imagine just being in a crowd of people and how loud that is. It’s like 5,000 times louder for anyone who has lesions on their brains”.

From being a successful star to being affected by Multiple Sclerosis, Christina Applegate’s life has taken a drastic turn over the past two years. The Anchorman star had to modify her life completely to manage her condition while also coming to terms with the fact that the simplest of tasks now looked like scaling Mount Everest. In an emotional confession to Vanity Fair, Applegate revealed,

“You can fall, you can slip, your legs can buckle. Especially because I have a glass shower. It’s frightening to me to get in there. There are just certain things that people take for granted in their lives that I took for granted. Going down the stairs, carrying things — you can’t do that.”

The Dead to Me actor went on to add that she was learning to cope with MS one day at a time but said that at present, the bad days outweighed the good days. Applegate hoped that with time, this could be reversed.
