We all know Karl Urban as Billy Butcher, a man who wants all supes gone from the world for good. But that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t trust in justice. The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers star acted in Dredd all the way back in 2012, essaying the role of the dreaded judgment enforcer in Pete Travis’s dystopian world. And seems like he wants to see more of Judge Dredd, even if he’s part of the project or not.
The fans of Dredd still remain
It’s been well over a decade since the release of Dredd starring the likes of Karl Urban, Lena Headey, Olivia Thirlby, and Wood Harris. The movie was far from a commercial success, amassing a total of $45 million on a budget of $30-$35 million.
That doesn’t mean it was a complete failure. The movie won over many hearts, gaining the status of a cult classic amongst fans. And Urban is a proud part of this group.
Karl Urban goes official saying he would love to see Dredd back on screen
Karl Urban has never shied away from sharing his love for Dredd‘s story. In 2020, he confessed that he wanted to see the feared law enforcer on screen again, even if it meant seeing a version not played by him.
He said,
“I’m on the record saying that a bunch of times. I don’t know if that’s gonna happen. I think that the guys that own the rights to Dredd, Rebellion, I think they’re developing something called ‘Mega-City One’ and it would just be great to see more Dredd, whether it’s with me or not, it doesn’t matter.” (Heroic Hollywood)
What is worth noting is that the Bent star seemed more than hopeful.

Some day hopefully
Karl Urban is hopeful that the story will be brought to fruition soon one way or the other. The Hangman star said,
“I’m a fan of Dredd and there’s so many great stories there. I’d love to see them. And I have no doubt that, someday, someone will make it. It’s just a matter of time.”
We’re all with him on this one. Everyone would love to see the world created by John Wagner in action again.
