Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie starred in the iconic 2005 film titled Mr. & Mrs. Smith, which is one of the few rare movies that the ex-couple shared on-screen. With the story of the duo being secret assassins trying to keep their marriage alive, the film’s concept was truly unique.
That’s why Amazon Studios wanted to use the concept for a series. The title of the same name will be quite a remake, but what people want to know is whether Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie make a cameo in the series or not!
Will Brad Pitt Appear in the Mr. & Mrs. Smith Series?
Since the concept of two secret assassins trying to keep their marriage alive was portrayed by former couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, it makes sense that either one of them could easily make a cameo in the upcoming series.

Co-creator and showrunner Francesca Sloane was asked the same question in an interview with The Direct, and the answer was somewhat disappointing. Sloane revealed that fans should not expect any cameo from either Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie. The co-creator, however, revealed that the series received blessings from Pitt himself, and he and co-star Donald Glover talked quite a bit about the series.
“I’ll be real, Donald and Brad hung out. There was, you know, some,–But you know, he gave us his blessings and love for the show. But I think that movie came with a lot of their own history, and I think it’s iconic for when it was done. And I think that, you know, that was a big swing and a miss. But what’s important plays still.”
Although neither of the actors will make a cameo in the show, it is no doubt set in the same universe as confirmed by showrunner Francesca Sloane.
Mr. & Mrs. Smith Has Plenty of Easter Eggs
With references, quirks, and remarks, Sloane revealed that the upcoming show is set in the same universe as that of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Stating that the show was a version of itself and was very different from the movie, Sloane stated that there were, however, nods to the original 2005 film.
“Yeah… I think even though our show is obviously its own thing and has its own tone, there are some Easter eggs to allude to the fact that it is still within that same world. So yeah, that is absolutely still a part of it. You know, there’s like a timeline thing when one of the characters comes into play in Episode Four. That kind of is when the film came out.”
She further continued,
“The very beginning of the pilot, with the two characters at the beginning, is sort of like a nod to the film, and there are little easter eggs throughout that are also nods to the film. It’s there. It’s just our version of that world.”
The upcoming series stars Donald Glover and Maya Erskine in the lead roles and fans have quite the expectations from the series. The Amazon Original series is set for a release date of 2 February 2024 and will be available to stream on Prime Video in the U.S.
