Streamers Step Away From Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Legacy

Hogwarts Legacy is an open-world adventure game that lets gamers enter the world of Harry Potter once again and be part of the Wizarding World. But streamers on Twitch, who have early access to the game, are now avoiding playing it under any circumstances. They are being endlessly harassed and bullied for playing the game or even trying it out. No matter how big or small the streamer may be, they are getting a lot of hate for playing the game.

The advertisements of the game have also been surfacing all around the platform. The streamers are being picked on by the chat and viewers of the stream for playing the game. They are trying to push cancel culture onto the streamer to the point where they are even left crying. Some streamers are choosing not to play the game altogether because of the risk that comes with it. No matter how good or bad the game may be, streamers do not want to risk their career on Twitch for Hogwarts Legacy when their chat is attacking them for simply trying a game out.

Streamers Want To Leave Twitch Because Of Hogwarts Legacy

Twitch is officially owned by Amazon and the platform has been excessively pushing the ads for Hogwarts Legacy. Across the entire platform, streamers and viewers are being bombarded by advertisements of the game. The game already had been attracting negative attention because of the author behind the original books. J.K. Rowling has been canceled and somewhat boycotted for her transphobic remarks. Due to this, the game too has been sidelined by many people.

A still from the game

“I will not be streaming to Twitch while this ad campaign remains active. I call on every streamer to join me in taking a stance against bigotry, hatred, and those who support such views.”

However, to hate art is different from hating the artist. Twitch streamers want to boycott Twitch altogether until the game’s advertising stops.

Hogwarts Legacy will launch on 10th February 2023.
