Be it brotherhood or friendship, Shonen animes tug at the viewer’s heartstrings. The themes of heroism, struggle, and transformation set Shonen anime apart from other genres. Although Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece are Big 3 from the Golden Era, My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Black Clover are revolutionary in their own way.

However, all good things must end. With MHA‘s final chapter marking its end, JJK and Black Clover are nearing its closure. To say the least, most fans are not willing to say goodbye as they express their disappointment online. The closure of these iconic manga marks the end of an era and the beginning of a nightmare for most fans.

JJK and MHA near the end of an iconic anime era

The release of the final chapter of My Hero Academia, written by Kohei Horikoshi, marks the end of the iconic Shonen manga with 41 volumes. MHA is one of the popular shonen anime ranking 7th on MyAnimeList. It is also one of the best-selling superhero manga that has a worldwide fanbase.

Apart from garnering a worldwide fanbase, MHA has marked its niche in the genre of superhero manga. However, the author’s original plan regarding its serialization differs from its eventual execution. The official release of its final chapter on 4th August 2024 marks the closure of the celebrated Shonen manga. It also marks the end of the golden decade since the manga debuted.

Other than MHA, Jujutsu Kaisen is nearing its end with 5 chapters. The official page of the JJK PR team released a statement confirming this news. Besides that, the official statement along with the author Gege Akutami’s statement regarding the series’ end is devastating to several fans. The fans took to the internet to express their disappointment.

Black Clover, JJK and MHA’s ending disappoints anime fans

With the MHA and JJK ending, Black Clover isn’t exempt from fans and their disappointment. Written by Yuki Tabata, Black Clover was the most-watched series in 2020. The Shonen high fantasy manga was first published in 2015. Even after 9 years, it remains an underappreciated yet iconic Shonen anime.

The production quality coupled with the conception of the storyline makes Black Clover an underrated gem. The manga breaks free from the generic Shonen discourse through its pacing and writing. It takes inspiration from Kentaro Miura’s iconic manga Berserk while making the dark scenes palatable.

However, with the manga gearing up for its final arc, several fans expressed their disappointment on the internet. Several users communicated their disbelief regarding Jujutsu Kaisen, My Hero Academia, and Black Clover’s manga ending on this Twitter thread. This user on Twitter states the need for Black Clover to be recognized.

“I wanted to make a manga like Berserk”: Kentaro Miura Became Yūki Tabata’s Biggest Inspiration for Black Clover Because of its Shonen Defying Qualities

Another user on Twitter expressed his shock and surprise at the latest developments of these three manga.

While some fans are unable to make peace with the manga’s ending, this Twitter user’s response to the news seemed reassuring and had positive undertones to it.

Apart from these three mangas, Dragon Ball’s status triggers the burning question regarding its ending. After Akira Toriyama‘s death in March 2024, Dragon Ball Daima is his last work. Whether Dragon Ball will end is uncertain. While the most celebrated Shonen manga is near its end, all good things must certainly end.

My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Black Clover are available for streaming on Crunchyroll
