Along with another iconic actor in the franchise, Alan Rickman, Gambon pulled a harmless prank on Daniel Radcliffe, who played Harry Potter in the movies. Michael Gambon pulled a prank on Daniel Radcliffe
In one of the Harry Potter films’ DVD extras, actor Daniel Radcliffe talked about a dirty prank that was played on him by Michael Gambon and Alan Rickman. He recalled (via Yahoo! News),
“There was one time where, in this room actually, Michael Gambon and Alan Rickman, and I think [director Alfonso Cuarón] was co-ordinating it, took the opportunity to play a practical joke on me. It was very good because it was a bunch of sleeping bags and Dan [asked] us to have his sleeping bag next to this particular girl that he fancied.”
As the scene was shot, a fart noise could be heard in the room. Turns out, a “fart machine” was put into Radcliffe’s sleeping bag. Radcliffe continued,
“We’d just finished a take, it’s taken ages to get it. They had put a fart machine into my sleeping bag, and Michael Gambon had actually been pressing it during the take, I found out.”
The harmless prank was an attempt to embarrass Radcliffe in front of all his co-stars. Alan Rickman, who played Professor Severus Snape in the franchise, passed away in 2016 after his battle with pancreatic cancer.
