The Office easily comes under the top five sitcoms of all time, the mockumentary became wildly famous so much so that people still talk about it and make memes about it. The show had a very strong run for almost eight years (2005 to 2013).
The show is well-written, acted and executed but what holds the audience for eight long years is the relationships on-screen. One such special relationship is of Jim and Pam played by Jenna Fischer and John Krasinski making them the gold standard for Office romance.
However, off-screen Jenna Fischer and John Krasinski never dated or were ever inclined to do so. The duo clicked from the moment they met but it never culminated in a romantic relationship instead Krasinski and Fischer became really good friends.
The two never became a thing in real life which is heartbreaking for fans, no one could deny the chemistry between Jenna Fischer and John Krasinski. On paper, they are the perfect fit but in real life, they have not given it a shot.
Jenna Fischer and John Krasinski were never single
When they initially met, they were with different people. Jenna Fischer was already married to acclaimed filmmaker James Gunn when The Office began production, while John Krasinski was dating Rashida Jones.
When Fischer announced her divorce from Gunn in 2008, Krasinski had only recently begun seeing the lady of his dreams, Emily Blunt. Fischer and Gunn remained friendly after their divorce, and they never said anything negative about each other.
“It was one of those things where I wasn’t really looking for a relationship and I was thinking I’m going to take my time in L.A. Then I met her and I was so nervous. I was like, ‘Oh god, I think I’m going to fall in love with her.’ As I shook her hand I went, ‘I like you.’ “
John Krasinski opened up about his relationship with Blunt and how they met. Even though when the actor met Blunt he was not keen on dating fortunately she changed that for him. The couple got serious and got hitched in 2008.
Jenna Fischer and John Krasinski would never date despite having great chemistry
When the two met they instantly clicked and developed a deep respect and admiration for each other. Krasinski and Fischer always had good things to say about each other. The two are still friends and have only positive things to say about each other.
When asked if he’d be willing to work with Jenna Fischer again while promoting his 2019 picture Jack Ryan, John Krasinski had all love for her. When Fischer was asked about her relationship with Krasinski she reiterated the fact that they are amazing friends and love each other.
“They filmed us with a camera for two days, mixing and matching us. And over the course of that two days, I was mixed and matched with John several times. And after the second day, we were walking out of a scene, and he turned to me and he said, you’re my favorite Pam. I hope you get this job.”
She continued,
“It is the strangest thing to have a long-term fictional love interest. It’s a type of relationship that is very intimate, and it’s very powerful, but it’s fictional. I mean, there is a part of me that is Pam, and there’s a part of him that is Jim, and that part of me is in love with that part of him. But in real life, we are just friends.”
Fischer stressed on how tough it is to maintain a good friendship with someone when you have to be intimate with them. Today Fischer is married to Lee Kirk and John Krasinski is happily hitched to his dream girl, Emily Blunt. The four of them meet up quite regularly as they share a strong bond. Krasinski adores Fischer’s children and her husband. Blunt and Fischer have become friends too.
