Olga Kurylenko, famous for being a Bond girl, admitted she might have lost the role of Wonder Woman because she has previously worked with Batman star Ben Affleck. The pair have co-starred in Terrence Malick’s To The Wonder, and the actress believed this might have caused her to miss out on a unique opportunity.

Kurylenko was on the shortlist of three stars vying for the coveted role of Wonder Woman. Since she has done a lot of training for Quantum of Solace, she stood a chance, though the part eventually went to Gal Gadot.

Olga Kurylenko Opens Up About Losing Wonder Woman Role

In her interview with The Hollywood Reporter, actress Olga Kurylenko revealed she has previously worked with Ben Affleck so there was a sense of familiarity. At the same time, she was not sure if it was a good thing:

Although, I already knew Ben Affleck because my audition was after I shot To The Wonder with him. So at least I kind of knew the actor. At the same time, it made it kind of bizarre because we already worked together on something so different, and so bizarre. It was not a classical movie experience. I wasn’t sure if it was a good thing after that.”

The actress believed Affleck could probably be the reason why she did not get the role of Wonder Woman. She continued:

I like Ben as a guy, but I was worried because we had already worked together. Maybe he wouldn’t want to work with someone again. Maybe he’d want to have someone he’s never worked with before. People don’t usually play couples over and over in different films… I thought, ‘I’ve already been in a movie with him. What are the chances of being with him in another movie?’

Even though she did not bag the role, she did the test for Wonder Woman which, according to Kurylenko, was an enjoyable experience:

I remember wearing a bathing suit and some leather boots. They’re always surreal experiences. It’s funny. I loved the film just so you know. I don’t like every action film, but I liked Wonder Woman. I really enjoyed it.”

Her audition for Wonder Woman went just the same as others. Kurylenko confessed that anything could happen inside the room, and whether it was a yes or no, it was fine. At least, she got Oblivion and Quantum of Solace.

In another interview with Desde Hollywood, Olga Kurylenko admitted she had no ill feelings towards Gal Gadot who got the role of Wonder Woman. She said:

If I could have been [Wonder Woman], well, because, everyone was saying that it was a possibility. It did cross my mind. But it’s fine, you know. There are many other roles. I am very happy for the girl that’s got the part. I am looking forward to seeing it.”

Interestingly, Gadot lost the role of Bond girl Camille Montes to Kurylenko. This was the same audition that landed her a role in the Fast and Furious franchise because they had the same casting director.
