From portraying an international spy and the most vulnerable Bond to wearing a cerise suit jacket on the red carpet, the actor is trying to defy his masculine image. Hence, it was less than surprised when he shared that he prefers to go to gay bars to avoid the aggressive fights of heterosexual places.

Craig said on the podcast Lunch with Bruce,

“I’ve been going to gay bars for as long as I can remember. One of the reasons: because I don’t get into fights in gay bars that often.”

The 53-year-old star shared that he started going to gay bars, when he was a young lad. He revealed that he went because he wanted to avoid ending up in a punch fight during a night out. He added that it happened quite a lot in straight venues.

Craig also said that when he was single he realized it was a good way to meet women.

“[Gay bars] would just be a good place to go. Everybody was chill, everybody. You didn’t really have to sort of state your sexuality. It was OK. And it was a very safe place to be. And I could meet girls there, cos there are a lot of girls there for exactly the same reason I was there. It was kind of an ulterior motive.”

Daniel Craig is happily married to British actress Rachel Weisz.

“The thing is, it just breaks the ice.”

Craig and Bruce Bozzi, the host of the podcast, recalled being photographed hugging outside a gay bar in Venice Beach in 2010. The photo has gone viral, and questions were raised about the sexual orientation of the star.

Craig commented,

“We’re tactile, we love each other. We give each other hugs it’s OK. We’re two fucking grown men. For me, it was one of those situations and the irony is, you know, we kind of got caught, I suppose, which was kind of weird because we were doing nothing fucking wrong.”

“What happened is we were having a nice night, and I kind of was talking to you about my life when my life was changing, and we got drunk, and I was like, ‘Oh, let’s just go to a bar, come on, let’s fucking go out.’”

Craig was last seen as 007 in No Time to Die, and the film was a massive hit. It grossed $774.2 million worldwide.
