Over the last year, there were various rumors and reports of actors being mistreated on the sets of the insanely famous drama Euphoria season 2. From alleged toxic working conditions to not being given meals on time, these rumors were all over the internet with some claiming that even complaints were filed to SAG-AFTRA (via Variety).

However, one of the actors on the show, Colman Domingo defended the show, instead calling the young actors for not being professional enough to understand the needs and requirements of filming. In a recent interview with the Independent, he stated,

“I’m not gonna invalidate [anyone’s] experience. But working in television is long hours. Sometimes you work up to 14 hours a day. And then you have to go home and prep. You have to really live and work in a very methodical way. A lot of young actors may not be up for the task, or have that same work ethic.”

Having been in the industry for a long time, he added,

“I’ve been in this business for 32 years. I know what hard work is. So when I heard those ‘reports’, I thought, ‘where is this coming from? That’s just a normal work day’. Be a professional.”

Well experiences differ, and Colman being an established star seems to have quelled such rumors. Also, he isn’t the only one to have defended the work conditions, for previously even Jacob Elordi had similar things to say.

Back in 2022, Euphoria star Jacob Elordi sat down with Variety to talk about the show’s second season. While talking about his character and the show, he was asked how true were the rumors of the set being toxic. Answering the question, Elordi replied,

“We’re making movies, you know what I mean? I mean that in the broad sense, like this is filmmaking. And whilst you shouldn’t suffer, to me there’s great value in working hard. And for every hour that I’ve personally put in on that set, I can see it when I watch the show, and I can feel it when I’m walking on the street and people love the show… If I’m working long hours, Sam’s working twice as long, Zendaya’s working three times as long. We’re all in it together.”

After Elordi and Domingo’s comments, fans seem to be assured of such rumors and have been eagerly waiting for season 3, which might not air untill 2025.

Euphoria can be streamed on Hulu.
