The rumor was true after all – Paddy Considine returned for a cameo in House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 6. Many fans speculated that King Viserys Targaryen would show up in Daemon Targaryen’s visions after a series of hallucinations brought the character face-to-face with some of the people from his past.

Considine was very ecstatic to return to the show albeit briefly, but nonetheless a pivotal moment in the series. The late king’s manifestation on his brother’s consciousness will hopefully resolve Daemon’s issues in Harrenhal.
Paddy Considine Celebrates King Viserys’ Cameo In House of the Dragon
In an Instagram post, actor Paddy Considine commemorated his return to HBO’s House of the Dragon. He penned a long dedication letter accompanied by a carousel of various photos on set as well as a replica of the statue of King Viserys.
It was brief, but I can’t tell you how happy I was to go back to House of the Dragon to see my old friends. I’ve really missed everyone. It was a chance to put the costume on one last time and say goodbye.
Considine portrayed the fifth king of the Targaryen dynasty who ruled the Seven Kingdoms. He became a fan-favorite character in Season 1 until his demise in Episode 8. The actor confessed feeling bummed he’s no longer in the second installment.
I’ve honestly felt a little bereft not being a part of this show anymore. It gave me sense of purpose and responsibility I haven’t felt since. To my cast mates, I miss you all. It’s amazing to watch your roles grow and to see you fly. Some literally.

Finally, he extended his gratitude to his make-up and costume team. He also tipped his hat off to showrunner Ryan Condal. The actor received a small sculpted statue of his character as a surprise from the art department. “I will treasure it. Along with the great memories,” he added.
King Viserys’ short moment with Matt Smith’s Daemon is expected to make things clearer for the Rogue Prince after he’s been haunted by nightmares under the roof of Harrenhal. It’s now clear that Daemon is visited by his own guilt and regret from the past.

In an interview with CinemaBlend, Matt Smith talked about Daemon’s confusing situation in Season 2. For several episodes in a row, he’s been having strange dreams. He revealed that his character “let his own devices and his own thoughts get the better of him” and that he has now “submerged in his own deep, dark psychology.”
Evidently, Daemon has overstayed his welcome in Harrenhal but this is mainly because he was under some sort of spell. Many would want to know if he would ever leave the castle and return to his beloved Rhaenyra, but this remains to be seen in the upcoming episodes.
House of the Dragon Season 2 is now streaming on HBO.
