Glen Powell is finally getting the much-deserved praise and attention from Hollywood, after the massive success of Top Gun: Maverick starring Tom Cruise. The film is a sequel to Top Gun which was released in 1986 and became a cult classic. And it took almost 36 years to make the sequel. Top Gun: Maverick bought the much-needed footfall to theatres, but the director and producers did not expect the film to do as well as it did.

“Before Comic-Con, everybody was like, ‘Dude, are you Cyclops?’ No, I’m not. Nobody has called me. I don’t even have one contact info for Marvel, so I have no idea what people are talking about.”

Powell continues to deny all these claims, but recently when Gunn made the announcements, he mentioned that they are looking for an actor to play Booster Gold. Not just that, but the team at DCU is in conversation with an actor for the role. It is hard to overlook this as a coincidence.

Top Gun: Maverick has beaten domestic Box Office records of many legendary films like Titanic and Avatar. The film did exceedingly well with both critics and audiences. When Glen Powell was asked if the cast has an active chat group, the actor candidly replied,

“One of the fun things [producer] Chris McQuarrie does is he gives us little box office facts. He’ll be like, “Today, you just beat ‘Titanic,’ this is why it’s unprecedented…’ He conceptualizes what a special run this has been. Tom and Jerry have said, “We’ve been a part of some of the biggest movies for decades and we’ve never seen anything like this.” It’s special to see them react to it, especially on that thread.”

The interviewer also asked Powell if he shares memes or Top Gun gifs with his co-actors and director. The Top Gun star said that they almost always share random screenshots,

“Miles and I always send each other screenshots of random people who hope that Rooster and Hangman end up together. It’s, like, “The Notebook” but with Rooster and Hangman.”

The producer Jerry Bruckheimer tried to hint towards another Top Gun film sometime soon but there are no official updates on that. Given the film’s success, the cast and crew are more than excited to make another film. However, will the next one take another 36 years? or will we get to see it soon enough? Only time can answer those.
