The Big Bang Theory is widely hailed as one of the most successful and famous sitcoms of all time. Led by Jim Parsons as the iconic Sheldon Cooper, the series has had its fair share of behind-the-scenes stories that will leave fans shocked. Often cited as the reason for the show’s ending, Parsons is not the only actor who has a complicated relationship with the series.

One of his co-stars, in fact, his on-screen wife, Mayim Bialik also has a troubled relationship with the series and confessed that she has never once sat down to watch the entirety of The Big Bang Theory.

Mayim Bialik portrayed the brilliant neurobiologist Amy Farrah Fowler on The Big Bang Theory. Since the introduction of her character, she quickly became a beloved member of the show and garnered a huge following due to her acting chops. Her on-screen relationship with Jim Parson‘s Sheldon Cooper further led to massive popularity and fame.

While Bialik has been in showbiz for a long time, it wasn’t until her role in the show that she went on to gain worldwide popularity. Yet, the actress revealed that she has never seen the entirety of the show or even full episodes.

In an interview with Metro UK, the actress stated,

I’ve never seen most of the episode. I don’t watch myself on television. I’ve never sat and watched an episode of our show, ever.

A shocking revelation, given how famous the series made her, the actress did clarify that she has seen snippets of the 12-season-long sitcom.

I’ve seen snippets on stage when they would show them to the audience but no, I don’t watch myself. I saw pieces [of the last episode] but I was in it, you know?

While Bialik isn’t alone for most actors choosing not to watch their own work, there is no denying that not monitoring her performance has not affected the show’s quality at all. For her, it is less about the quality of the show but more about staying detached from the final outcome, allowing her to focus on the craft of acting rather than go down the path of personal critique.

Jim Parsons Was the Reason Why The Big Bang Theory Ended

Jim Parsons is the actor behind one of the best parts of The Big Bang Theory, the quirky genius Sheldon Cooper. One of the main reasons behind the show’s limitless popularity, he is also, unfortunately, the reason why the show came to an end despite its successful 12-seasons-long run.

As per Entertainment Weekly, Parsons’ along with the rest of the four original cast members, the actor were offered over a million dollars per episode. While he could have made more than $50 million if he had agreed to stay for over two years more and renew his contract, the actor nonetheless walked away, in his wake leading to the end of the popular sitcom.

Having portrayed the character that made him a household name, Parsons took the step because he did not want to have his career just be defined by that one role. Already 46 years old by the time The Big Bang Theory ended, it is a no-brainer that the actor wanted to explore and diversify his acting career rather than just be associated with a character like Sheldon Cooper.

As the driving force behind the whole sitcom, Parsons’ refusal to renew the contract thus signaled the end of the show.

The Big Bang Theory is available to be streamed on Netflix.
