However, after playing the character for nearly a decade, he decided to move on from his most popular role. And Macht shared the reason he decided to leave the show during an interview with TV Insider.
Why Did Gabriel Macht Decide to Leave Suits?
Starring Gabriel Macht, Meghan Markle, and Patrick J. Adams, USA Network’s Suits ran for 9 seasons from 2011 to 2019. While some of its stars left midway, Macht featured in the series throughout its nine seasons. And after playing the same character for eight years, he decided to take a break.

During an interview with TV Insider, he shared that he wanted to take a break and wanted to “invest my energy and my focus and my creativity” on something other than the legal drama. “I’ve spent a lot of time playing this guy, and I think we did right by him,” he said before adding, “so maybe it’s time to move on.”
He also shared that finishing the series was a “real sense of freedom” for him, after which he wanted to focus on his wife and family. “I want to put some creative heart, more focus and energy into [being with] my wife and my family,” he told TV Insider.

Recent reports have also revealed that the creator of Suits, Aaron Korsh, is working on a new Suits series. As per Deadline, Suits‘ success on streaming has made it a high priority for NBCUniversal. The new series would reportedly not be a spin-off, sequel, or prequel but a new show in a new setting with new characters.
David Bartis and Doug Liman, who served as executive producers of the legal drama, would also executive produce the new series. However, the report also states that nothing has been finalized yet, including the network to air the project.
Suits is available on Peacock.
