Jennifer Lawrence’s Complicated Equation With Family
Apart from being a hugely successful and popular star, Jennifer Lawrence is also known to support causes close to her heart while being very liberal in her political views as well. Unfortunately, a lot of her family members did not share her ideals. Growing up in small-town America in Louisville, Kentucky, the Hunger Games star was surrounded by conservative opinions that were supported by a large part of her family.
These differences were augmented even further, by Lawrence’s confession about conservative TV host Tucker Carlson that further drove a wedge into her relationships. Speaking to Vogue about the trauma and sadness of being estranged from her parents and extended family, the Silver Linings Playbook star confessed that it was hard for her to let go of the hurt she felt not being able to understand their viewpoint.
“I just worked so hard in the last five years to forgive my dad and my family and try to understand, it’s different. The information they are getting is different. Their life is different. I’ve tried to get over it and I really can’t. I can’t.”
Lawrence went on to add that extreme views on leadership and politics in America were unfortunately tearing people apart. Having said that, she felt that taking a strong political stand was also important in the current scenario.
Jennifer Lawrence’s Tough Stance On Gun Control In America
Being a strong Democrat, Jennifer Lawrence has always been very vocal about her views on many issues. Gun control is a topic that the Oscar winner has strongly vouched for, especially after the country has been subjected to multiple horrific shootings in schools and other places. Speaking to Vogue about the laws that still allowed for guns to be easily accessible to the public, Lawrence addressed every mother’s fear for her child’s safety in this world.
“I’m raising a little boy who is going to go to school one day. Guns are the number-one cause of death for children in the United States. And people are still voting for politicians who receive money from the NRA. It blows my mind.”
The X-Men star also revealed that she tried to reach out to her estranged family to discuss this very serious issue, especially after becoming her mother herself. Unfortunately, her efforts were of no use due to the lack of response from her family.
