Jennifer Garner’s Heart-Warming Tribute To Jackie Chan

Jennifer Garner is a self-confessed fan of Jackie Chan. The 13 going on 30 actor posted a sweet and heart-warming video to her Instagram story which showed the Asian superstar and his on-screen daughter from his film Ride on sharing an emotional moment on set. The Rush Hour actor and his co-star were seen watching old video clips of Chan doing daring stunts in his hey day. Many of these sequences resulted in serious injuries to the star which caused him to get teary-eyed and sentimental while recalling the incidents.

The video which went viral, left many viewers in awe of Jackie Chan’s abilities as an action star. Others admired the actor’s glittering career that was a result of sheer hard work. A loyal member of the fan club was Hollywood actor Jennifer Garner who was effusive in her praise for Chan and his talent. In her Instagram story, the Peppermint star added the caption,

“the kindest, gentlest, most mischievous, talented genius”

Watching his old videos with his on-screen daughter not only sent Jackie Chan down memory lane, but also made him reminisce about his own daughter Xiao Long Nu whom he controversially disowned after she came out as queer. Chan who has also publicly acknowledged his guilt about neglecting his daughter, stated that he felt doubly emotional as watching these clips with a daughter-figure.

Why Did Jackie Chan Want To Quit Hollywood?

It is common knowledge that the Rush Hour franchise starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker is one of the most popular mainstream franchises in Hollywood. Both actors have also gained recognition for their unique partnership. But there was a period when Jackie Chan wanted to have no part in the films and the industry as he wasn’t on board with the aesthetic of the film following its failure in Asia. But the actor was pleasantly surprised to see that Rush Hour opened to stupendous reviews in America. This made the Police Story star realize that he was unaware of the cultural ethos and language of english films when compared to their asian counterparts. He stated,

“I slowly realize: Okay, I still have Chinese mind. I have ‘hometown’ mind. I don’t get American culture, American dialogue. So now from that time on, I really listen to whatever Owen [Wilson] tell[s] me to say, whatever Chris Tucker tell[s] me to say. I realize, okay, anything I think not funny means, it’s funny.”

The action star subsequently went on to do 2 more sequels with Chris Tucker, both of which raked in the big bucks. According to reports coming in, there are talks about the duo is signing up for Rush Hour 4. Both camps though, are yet to confirm this.
