Pom Klementieff Talks About Her Mission Impossible Love

“Paris is a pretty mysterious character that doesn’t speak much, but the beauty of it is that when she speaks, everyone listens. I think my character is on a path of destruction and she’s a very skilled fighter, and she enjoys fighting and killing people,” Klementieff said. “But there is also an underlying feeling of betrayal and loneliness from being an orphan, so there’s a deep wound underneath. I came up with many things myself, because what Christopher McQuarrie and Tom Cruise do is cast the actors, and then they build the character around the actor’s abilities.”

In her conversation with Variety, the actress delved into her rigorous preparation for Mission Impossible 7 and shared the primary influences that shaped her character.

Pom Klementieff shared her cinematic influences during the interview, mentioning that she draws inspiration from directors like Quentin Tarantino, whose works like Kill Bill she admires. She also mentioned watching films featuring Jackie Chan. Her inspiration extended beyond action, including characters from movies by Clint Eastwood and Takeshi Kitano, who convey emotions through minimal dialogue.

“Quentin Tarantino is one of my favorite directors, so of course I always watch Kill Bill. I watched movies with Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, and some French movies as well, because it was not just about the fight and the physicality. I was inspired by movies with Clint Eastwood, Takeshi Kitano, and all these beautiful characters that barely speak but convey so many emotions as well.”
