Jacob Elordi’s fame started when he joined Netflix’s The Kissing Booth movies and the hit HBO series Euphoria, but apart from his acting chops, he is also recognized as one of the faces of Calvin Klein. As an ambassador for the famous clothing line, the actor could not help but work with them on several occasions.
While fans would definitely remember him as a model for the brand, it’s probably not as wild as this year’s figure. Jeremy Allen White of The Iron Claw definitely stole the scene in his latest Calvin Klein ad campaign.
Calvin Klein Ad Pushes Jeremy Allen White’s Career Even Further
Jeremy Allen White spoke with GQ and talked about his first-ever collaboration with Calvin Klein. Walking down the streets of New York, one would easily drown in the scene of skyscrapers and billboards, and it felt the same for the actor.
“You couldn’t help but look at the [Calvin Klein] billboard. It’s so massive. I always associated it—and still associate it—with New York City itself. They’ve done such a beautiful job with these campaigns for so long. They always get really interesting people.”
Stripped down to his Calvin Klein underwear and showing a perfectly sculpted body, White could not believe he gets to grace the Spring 2024 brand campaign.
“I didn’t see this in my future necessarily. Who grows up thinking, Yeah, I’ll be in a Calvin Klein campaign?”
The recognition that came with his Best Actor win at the Golden Globe Awards, plus the outpouring of attention brought by his recent work with Calvin Klein, overwhelmed White, as per his interview with Entertainment Tonight:
“It’s been a weird couple of days. It is bizarre doing a Calvin Klein ad, and now it is even more bizarre having it had come out. But everything feels OK for now.”
White’s year has been off to a good start, and fans can definitely see him starring in more projects and collaborating with other high-end clothing brands in the future.
Why Did Jacob Elordi’s Calvin Klein Ad Flop?
Calvin Klein must love Jacob Elordi so much that they hired him in 2019 for his first-ever campaign and contacted him again in 2021 for another photoshoot. We cannot blame them – the actor is a fashion icon himself. Speaking with W Magazine, Elordi talked about his relationship with Calvin Klein:
“I’ve always enjoyed working with them. They’re art-oriented and are always collaborative on what we put out. The first campaign I did because I thought my mum would find it cool.”
Still, this ad campaign did not stir any buzz on social media. In his photoshoot, he wore a Calvin Klein sweater and a boxer brief. Nothing too shocking. A post from the New York Times magazine claimed that Elordi “was too pristine” while “[Jeremy Allen] White is shot like statuary, but his vibe is always louche.”
Indeed, White’s pictorial is much more sensual and provocative that the Advertising Standards Authority has received complaints of objectifying the actor. The ad has generated $12.7 million in media impact value in just 48 hours.
