Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith’s relationship, which started in the 90s, has seemingly spiraled out of control in recent years, leading to fans getting acquainted with a number of twists and turns, which even make your average superhero movie appear pale in comparison.
From the entanglement interview of 2020 to that infamous Oscar night involving Chris Rock in 2022, the pair’s relationship has attracted headlines one way or another. Earlier this year, Jada once again raised eyebrows by claiming that she and Will separated in 2016. Now the dynamic has taken another sharp turn, with the actress suggesting their nearly 30-year-long marriage is far from over.
What Jada Pinkett Smith Said About Will Smith After Almost 30 Years of Marriage
Earlier this year, Jada Pinkett Smith‘s memoir, Worthy came to the fore and shed light on her relationship with Will Smith, with whom she has been married since 1997 and shares two children, Jaden and Willow.
Jada revealed that it’s been seven years since the two have been separated, admitting to NBC journalist Hoda Kotb that by 2016 they were just exhausted from trying. In fact, the night Will slapped Rock and warned “Keep my wife’s name out your f-cking mouth!” was the first time Jada had heard him use that word in years.
However, they kept their situation hidden from the public for so long because they were not ready yet. The Girls Trip star stated that she and Will were “still trying to figure out between the two of us, how to be in partnership. “How do we present that to people?” she told Kotb. “We hadn’t figured that out.”
Now, it seems their marriage is intact, as she revealed during a recent appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show: “We’re staying together forever.”
How healthy this supposed back and forth for a relationship is a whole other debate but the fact that Jada and Will, despite almost 30 years of marriage can’t seem to get too far from each other shows just how dependent they are on each other – a frustrating sign for the supposed lone wolves out there who try to live a more independent life.
Will Smith’s Instagram Post Hints Everything’s Fine Between Him and Jada
Even before the interview with Drew Barrymore came to light, Will’s Instagram posts suggested everything’s festive as far as their relationship is concerned, as he shared pictures of him celebrating Thanksgiving with Jada and their family together.
In one of the pictures, the couple posed together with the Oscar-winning actor kissing his wife on her head. The caption on his post read: “Best Thanksgiving Ever!” The 55-year-old also took a picture with his whole family, including his ex-wife Sheree Zampino.
Smith has had a quiet year or two on the big screen. Accordingly, his fans are delighted that the actor is having a good time behind the scenes and would certainly hope the same mood is reflected in his work. He’s expected to make his comeback with Bad Boys 4 in 2024.
