Gunn recently took to Instagram to show his support for Danielle Brooks for her amazing work in the musical drama movie, The Color Purple.

Danielle Brooks thanks James Gunn for his support

James Gunn and Danielle Brooks worked together for the first time on Suicide Squad‘s spin-off series, Peacemaker back in 2022. In the series, Brooks portrayed the role of Leota Adebayo, an original character created by Gunn who served as the co-lead of the series along with John Cena’s portrayal of Christopher Smith aka Peacemaker.

Danielle Brooks’ musical drama movie, The Color Purple was released last month and James Gunn took to Instagram to show his support for the actress. Gunn posted a picture of himself along with Brooks and wrote the caption,

“Who has seen Danielle Brooks (Leota Adebayo from Peacemaker) absolutely kill it in The Color Purple?? She’s incredible!”

The Instant Dream actress further commented on the post appreciating Gunn and his wife, Jennifer Holland for their unwavering faith and constant support for her and wrote,

“What a lot of ppl don’t know is that you helped restore my faith when I thought there was a chance I wasn’t going to book The Color Purple Much love to you and Jennifer Holland.”

The Color Purple is all set to be released in theatres globally next week on 18th January.

Peter Capaldi opened up about the possibility of working again with James Gunn in the future

Peter Capaldi portrayed the role of Gaius Grieves aka The Thinker in the 2021 superhero movie, The Suicide Squad, and revealed that he loved working with James Gunn. In a recent interview with Forbes, Capaldi was asked if he would want to work with Gunn again in the future and he replied,

“Of course, I would, absolutely. James was lovely; I loved working with him. He creates such a great atmosphere on set and is such a nice person to work with. I honestly think James is gifted, clever, and sharp, but I sometimes feel like he’s making a film in his garage. He feels like a guy who would go off at the weekend and make these films because he has such enthusiasm and sincerity about them.”

However, Capaldi’s character has already met his end in The Suicide Squad, therefore his return to the DCU is still not sure as of yet.
