It has been quite some time since the old DCEU has fallen to the ground, which has given Warner Bros. Discovery the chance to rebuild the failing franchise from the ground up once more. The visionaries for the next phase of DC Comics’ comic book films are director James Gunn along with Peter Safran as co-CEOs of the newly revived DC Films.
This means that both executives will now have to get locked in with their upcoming projects as they gear up to bring the new DCU back to its former glory. While it’s amazing to see a director as talented as Gunn being the man behind the magic, it seems like this responsibility is also a problem in disguise, especially considering that he may be missing out on something really big because of it.
James Gunn Could’ve Been The Director Of The Next Bond Films
The race is just getting started, and amidst the flurry of rumors and speculations about who will become the next Bond in the iconic 007 franchise, there have been talks about who will be the one helming the projects in the future. So far, there has been no concrete evidence or report that suggests who will inherit the name of James Bond after Daniel Craig, but the rumors surrounding legendary filmmaker Christopher Nolan becoming the next director of the franchise are starting to heat up once more.

In a recent report by an Industry insider, it’s being said that Eon Productions and Amazon are pushing hard for the Oppenheimer director to take the reigns of the next Bond movies in his hands, which is writing and directing them at the same time and then executive producing them after. This has only been bolstered by the fact that he has been in conversation with Barbara Broccoli, the producer of the franchise. There were also reports of her asking the director for his requirements to join the series in the past.
And while the director may be one of the favorites for the projects, he’s not the only one who would love to join the esteemed cinematic franchise. Seeing as James Gunn is a distinguished filmmaker and screenwriter himself, he would’ve fit perfectly in the director’s chair for Bond with his unique take on the character, just like his takes on superhero films. But the biggest problem here is the fact that he’s the head of operations at DC Films, which makes it impossible for him to be part of another film series anytime soon.

The Other Filmmakers That Are Being Considered For The Next Bond Films
While Eon Productions may be aiming high by scouting Nolan for their next films in the franchise, they also know that the director is the type who needs complete artistic and expressive freedom with his films, something that’s not easy when you have an entire legacy franchise structure to adhere to.
Therefore, if things don’t work out with him, the studio has alternatives as well. The most notable rumor regarding other directors that are being looked over is Denis Villeneuve, the creator of the masterpiece Dune, as well as Paul Greengrass, the visionary behind the majority of the iconic Bourne series that gave the 007 franchise a run for its money in the past.
