James Gunn announced the pre-production team
James Gunn has kept the fans updated on Superman: Legacy in all the steps so far. The movie was confirmed in January when the two heads of DC Universe revealed the first looks of the movie along with the announcement of movie and TV titles for the new DC Universe. Gunn revealed that Supergirl: World of Tomorrow and The Brave and the Bold (a Batman and Robin movie) is also in the making.

Regarding the lead actor of the movie, both Gunn and Henry Cavill have confirmed that the latter will not be reprising his role in the upcoming movie.
Details about James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy
According to the synopsis from Warner Bros., the movie will tell the story of Superman’s journey of connecting his Kryptonian heritage with his upbringing as Clark Kent from Smallville, Kansas. The character of Superman is a person who believes in truth, justice, and human kindness, which has become quite a rare sight in the present time.
The new Gunn movie is a reboot of Superman on the big screen with the introduction of a younger version of the hero. Hence, former star Henry Cavill will not be playing the lead. James Gunn has not yet made any announcement regarding the casting for Superman: Legacy.
In March, the director confirmed that he has not talked to any actor for the role of the new Superman. He dismissed the rumors of casting Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief fame Logan Lerman in a Twitter post, saying,
“Haven’t had a single talk with a single actor about the role. Just making private lists, prepping material for auditions.”
Superman: Legacy is scheduled for a theatre release on July 11, 2025.
