The lead scientist of Project Starfish could have met a gorier end however, the director eventually decided to cut it off. In Gunn’s movie, the Thinker is the brains behind experimenting on Corto Maltese’s incarceration of Starro the Conqueror on behalf of the U.S. government.

However, Starro breaks free of his control before killing him off. Gunn revealed that the scene was initially intended to be more gory but the version didn’t end up in the final cut.

Most things for me come down to my gut and pacing,” he wrote on X (via Comicbook.com). “That moment came at a time when we’re really moving – boom boom boom – and although it’s glorious (VFX work by Weta), it acted like an unnecessary pause in the film.”

The Suicide Squad‘s ensemble cast also includes Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, Sylvester Stallone, Viola Davis, and Pete Davidson among many others. It is available to stream on Netflix.
