James Gunn is now working on revamping the DC’s cinematic franchise with several projects lined up for the near future. While many characters are slowly and steadily getting unraveled, many are interested in returning to the new DCU. The Suicide Squad actor, Peter Capaldi, who starred as the Thinker commented about returning to the franchise.

Gunn wrote and directed the 2021 superhero movie, which received a positive critical response becoming the most-streamed DCEU film on HBO Max. Given the quality he presented on the project, Capaldi highly regards him, stating that he would want to work with him again.
Peter Capaldi Commented on Working With James Gunn Again!
In an interview with Forbes, The Suicide Squad actor was asked whether he would return to James Gunn‘s DCU as the latter is now the CEO of DC Studios. Peter Capaldi asserted, “Of course, I would, absolutely.”
He has nothing but good words for the director as he added,
“James was lovely; I loved working with him. He creates such a great atmosphere on set and is such a nice person to work with. I honestly think James is gifted, clever, and sharp, but I sometimes feel like he’s making a film in his garage.”
He continued,
“He feels like a guy who would go off at the weekend and make these films because he has such enthusiasm and sincerity about them.”
The Scottish actor played the role of Gaius Grieves / The Thinker in the 2021 superhero movie. However, his character has already met his end in the movie which could have been more gory but the director decided to tone it down.
James Gunn Revealed Why The Thinker’s Gorier Death Scene Was Scrapped
The lead scientist of Project Starfish could have met a gorier end however, the director eventually decided to cut it off. In Gunn’s movie, the Thinker is the brains behind experimenting on Corto Maltese’s incarceration of Starro the Conqueror on behalf of the U.S. government.
However, Starro breaks free of his control before killing him off. Gunn revealed that the scene was initially intended to be more gory but the version didn’t end up in the final cut.
“Most things for me come down to my gut and pacing,” he wrote on X (via Comicbook.com). “That moment came at a time when we’re really moving – boom boom boom – and although it’s glorious (VFX work by Weta), it acted like an unnecessary pause in the film.”
The Suicide Squad‘s ensemble cast also includes Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, Sylvester Stallone, Viola Davis, and Pete Davidson among many others. It is available to stream on Netflix.
